@TheAlmightyMixedMan I'm not sure. I wish i knew but the driver said it will burn the tires all the way to 3rd gear, so it is probably hard to test a 0-60.
You're right; it doesn't include the other items on the car. The $13k was for the V8 Roadsters kit, used LS1 engine, used T56 tranny, new Getrag diff., universal exhaust kit & misc items associated with the V8 conversion.
@JLai1969 no its not so much.. u just need to wait a bit... i searching on internet on websites where u can buy car. I found crashed corvette, it was crashed from back so engine is okay and guy want only 4000€. so yea.. :)
@batterbee2000 this is probably one of the best overall drivers cars on the road, and you get that cheap miata insurance!!!!! thats awesome. how much is your insurance? and how much to convert to ls1, and car price?
@2001VTX - $13,243.00 is just for the engine swap only right? Not counting in all the other stuff to handle the power (suspension, roll bar, etc., etc., etc.)
I plan on attending the Vicksburg Car Show, Sat., 6/11/2011 (Vicksburg, Michigan). & the Lane Automotive Show, Sat., 5/28/2011 (Watervliet, Michigan). I'll bring the project photo albums for those interested to both events.
The conversion added 182.2 lbs to the car, and the weight distribution is 51.8% Front & 48.2 Rear. The V8 Roadsters kit sits the engine back - some firewall mods were needed. The GM PCM is used along with a slightly modified engine harness which not only runs the engine, but interfaces with the gauges. The PCM was re-programmed to accomodate some of the changes. If you're interested in MPG... 34+mpg, 6th gear, 75-80mph
I'm Ray and did the conversion with the help of the V8Roadsters kit. Took about 3 months, 2004 LS1 (41k miles-rebuilt-blueprinted, T56 6spd-rebuild, CTS diff-new, w/G80 limited slip.
It is. I usually average around 30 mpg at best. Ofcourse, I do drive like an ass, and the car has well over 200,000 miles, but still...

34 mpg!?!? That's better than my 1.6 four-banger!
Mopar78360 4 months ago
@Mopar78360 your 1.6 might be DOHC
hernandadmx 3 months ago
@Mopar78360 There's a few 1.6-1.8 engines that can get 40+mpg. Some even manage to get almost 50mpg! (all Japanese motors of course..)
