lucky for you this is the newer model geo which was quite a safe vehicle for its time. i totalled mine as well, except i rolled it and it was the 4 dr model.
I think the car was actually trying to tell me something :P For one, it forced me to live without a car in a much less planned way and it even saved me money in the long run as I saved $1100 (2 months without driving).
Now I'm seasoned for the car-free lifestyle this summer :)
I talk about it briefly on my "Living without a car (part 3)" video. I was stopped in an intersection making a left turn. The light turned yellow then red and someone made a last second dash through the intersection and collided almost head-on.
I didn't find any witnesses in time, so there was no way to prove that the other driver went though the red light (he of course claimed it was green for him) so I ended up only getting $990 for the Geo in insurance. Oh well. I'm going car-free now.
At current rate of useage I will not ever make it to 300K miles I have owned the xb 1 year drive it 5054 miles so at 421 miles a month that will take me 712 months=59 years I will be 99. Lets see I weigh 325 lbs I highly doubt I will live to that age never know but I know the numbers are against me. Oh well at least the car is paid off. Those kind of miles I should get a covered motorcycle aka geo metro. Now the prius has 15K plus miles and is a month younger. We use the fuel saver more.
Did you know Mr. Rogers was a Marine Corps sniper? NOT that is bogus he was not in the military. His father trained Tuskegee airmen in ww2 but Fred Rogers was not in the service not as an army sniper nor a navy seal just not true look it up. Too bad about the metro your car served you honorably and loyally I could miss my metro but my scion xb is a good car not as good on fuel but good enough. I calculated real world xb vs my prius at 300k miles $3pgal the cost will exceed $9,400.
ouch!! to bad that geo had to go. but hey now you can make money of it my selling the parts, engine, ect. try to strip and sell as much as you can from it before giving it to the junkyard.
Fortunate for me, I do have personal vehicle damage coverage on my insurance policy. The car is going to be written off for sure, so I'll get reimbursed for the vehicle anyway (although I might have to pay my $700 deductible).
I always liked my Metro
