  • btw there is a much easier way to get potassium chlorate i got mine from a pet shop in the fresh water fish section it came in the form of tablets but you just crush them in a morter its about 98% potassium chlorate

  • Tht made me jump

  • the test tube held up pretty well

  • So did it explode as soon as the kclo3 turned molten or was it molten for a while?

  • @HazMatLabz it was molten for about 2 minutes before it finally went, i don't know why it took so long!

  • @neddy17 well it could be that the lithium needed to melt or that they simply didn't react but the chlorate exploded.

  • @HazMatLabz long time no see (:

i think the reason was because it had formed an oxide layer which needed to be broken by becoming molten.. quite a nice bang.. wonder why the glass didnt go bang as well o:

  • molten pot perm (KMnO3) gives about the same reaction. Nice cannon though.

  • @TheCaptainLulz are you sure you can melt potassium permanganate? i thought it just decomposes before you can...

  • @neddy17 add a drop of water and heat it. Its not technically molten but it will react quickly.

  • @neddy17 Not to mention potassium permanganate is KMnO4, not 3... yea it decomposes. anyway haha that was kinda a stupid thing to do, awesome reaction though!!

  • Yay!
