  • Christ this is terrible!! They're fucking miles better now! Esp. Youth - he's outta time - shoulda stayed off he spliffs!

  • Damn the East Side Club.

  • fantastic sound quality..love Youth's Ricky, really comes through

  • I had so much fun at the East Side. Black Flag, Dream Syndicate, Sisters of Mercy, Alien Sex Fiend. Bobby Startup on the turntables.....Those were the days......

  • Thank you for uploading this! A treasure indeed. Have my tickets for NYC in May..YEAH!

  • Best sound ever! I love it.

  • Holy sh*t that was awesome. I saw KJ on this tour (as well as the one before it and the one after it, with Raven) at the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Hollywood and they were absolute monsters live - still are. I went to see them last year at the LA reunion gig and it was colossal Yet Again. 4 original members == one of the greatest bands in history

  • ok, I'm convinced: I'm gettin an SG and a Rickenbacker bass!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the sound in the room was awesome. When those hard atmospheric synths kicked in you could feel your eardrums being tortured. Me and my gf had very loud whistling in our ears for 3 days after this show. 1st day it was constant and as loud as a person whistling normally.2nd day about half as loud ..3rd day a quiet whistle. - it was great though, the music was as powerful as the volume.

  • from what footage you got seems like you did a damn good job editing

  • Cheers for the upload.

  • awesome vid.. what'd you film it on?

It sucks that there aren't more bands in the world like KJ and PIL

  • I didn't film this, I just edited this portion together. The reason was that at this point in the set, there was problems on the video tape and the footage kept cutting out. I cut the sections out that were usable, slowed parts down, did a few other little tricks and finished up with this.

You can now actually buy this whole gig on a cd called

    'The Original Unperverted Pantomime'

with the dvd set on the other side (double-sided disc)

  • It was also recorded by someone called Michel.

    The lineage he gave was...

    Sony AVC-3250 B/W camera -->

Sony U-Matic NTSC Portapak on three

    Scotch UCA20S U-Matic 20-minute video cassettes (1981) -->

played back with Sony U-Matic deck VO-7630 (2008)

  • fuckingamazing!

  • This is just incredible! I grew up listening to them but never saw them live during the early years. Seeing this just gives me chills, thanks!

  • amasing work, this period was he best for me especialy when 3 years earlier they were touring with JOY DIVISION how simaler the bass sound travels you cany beat it.M9

  • Killing Joke rules !...Many thanks ! (a french fan from punk/NW era...)

  • The footage is simply awesome! I understand you don't want to upset the band, but if the guys don't show something like this on the next DVD (and i could bet they won't) i'd love to see more of this footage you have. It's really great. Thanks for sharing.

  • I received my order for

'The Original Unperverted Pantomime' cd+dvd today, and it is the gig this is taken from. They've actually edited this track out though, for the reasons I gave below, still a great buy nevertheless.

I also came by another cool KJ live video recording recently, and it too is from the same year as this. It's in colour, and I will definitely be putting up a few tracks from it here very soon.

  • thanks again.

  • Where the heck did you dig this up from??

Brilliant stuff-thx a million for posting!!!

  • Glad you like it my friend.

Yeah it's special stuff isn't it?

The whole gig was shared on Dime by a guy who filmed it on behalf of the band, but it never seen the light of day. At this point in the recording, most of the footage was lost but the audio was ok. So I put this together using bits that made it through, and a few other moments from the show.

I won't be putting any more up though, as I don't want to upset the band, and there's a dvd+ released tomorrow. And it maybe this gig. Yay!

  • That's bullshit about most of the footage being lost

    I have it :)

  • If it's bullshit, how come you've favourited this video.

Erm! You do realize I meant most of the footage from this particular track, not the whole gig?

  • The track's a brutal, tribal masterpiece :)

And you're right about the video screwing up on this track. Misunderstanding, I thought you meant the whole video.

    So Rp, I apologise :)

Have a nice day my friend :)

  • No worries mate!

I had a feeling there might be some misunderstanding.

You're probably aware of this, but for others who aren't.

This gig was actually filmed from the right-hand side too.

They just never got round to mastering the two together.

Will probably have to wait another 27 years for that to show up too XD
