Not trying to say what is better, but I listened to these and the quality just sounds terrible. Don't reply with hate, but there is no bass, no instrument seperation, quality is great though, but if you really listen to more than just Country/rock then get something like Beats...

@iElite1023 i think you listened the wrong ones 'cause actually this headphones have lots of bass, sometimes it becomes overpowered. The instrument separation is not awesome but it's pretty good for the size of the drivers. Beats are bad, the only thing you hear is bass, no instrument separation and muddled highs and mids... nope beats aren't a option.

@26148549 okay, I can agree with the bass. But have you actually listened to beats before? Based of what you just said, it sounds like you've never even picked up a pair (other than solos) Listen to Pros and see, Pros are pretty much the only good pair.

@iElite1023 I've listened to the 3 pairs of beats (solo, studio and pro) and I got really disappointed with the sound quality of the 3 of them. You're right that the pros are the best pair of the line but for 399 the sound quality still lacks a lot of detail. I've heard better headphones at a lower price range like the audio technicas ath-M50s and the beyerdinamics DT 770 Pro that perform way better than the beats pro and they're under 200, so yeah Beats aren't a option.

Here is my problem. A True Audiophile wouldn't use YouTube Videos as reference for audio quality. Flac is the way to go. There are tons of Lossless Sample websites.

@aliash89 Yes these headphones are good for bass and trance music especially. My friend and I met Tiesto on a street in Spain and he was wearing these Bose on ear headphones with his iphone last year. I'm not joking this is true the picture is on Tiesto's facebook page. So if they are good enough for Tiesto they must be pretty good!

@aliash89 it should be about half way down his page of photos but yes he does use them for portable use but for djing he used to use the stanton dj pro 2000s, now he uses the pioneer hdj 500s, hdj 2000s and occasionally the 1000s. There are only 2 other headphones I have seen him wear and that is the v moda crossfades and the aerial 7 tank mondrian so take my word for it ;)

Nice Review .... Have you tried the headphones by Audio Techica (ATH ANC7 queit point) I am inclined to buy them because of their affordability and decent sound quality...(i am not huge on bass) any comparison of those to Bose??

Hi mate ! Thank you for a really nice review. I am very confused - I went to the Bose Store and heard both AE2 and OE headphones. I thought AE2 had a little better sounds than OE but OE was definitely more stylish and a great piece of design/engineering. I have previously used OE for about a week (borrowed from a friend) but I am not a big fan of their weird headband which doesn't seem durable and also hurts a little. OE also has some NR. I am interested to hear your comments.

@denieru90 : Hip Hop and Rap sounds very good as the bass and beats are crisp and clear. No issues. I listen to Eminem and Notorious BIG and they sound awesome.

good review man! one question. Im in the middle of choosing bose OE and Beats by Dre solo. Did you every try on the beats? If so, which do you recommended between them and bose?

@sufaeva : Personally I feel that the Beats by Dre is just too much bass compared to the Bose. I tried it at BestBuy and wasn't much impressed. I like their design and comfort but in terms of sound it doesn't beat the Bose OE.

@knaadhan Can you please elaborate on the better sound of the Grado sr60's? I have listened to the Bose on-ear & I really liked the power & presence they have, but the bass was too boomy & it sort of muddied up all the highs. I ended up getting the Bose Around-ear for this reason, but have decided to take them back because I find the bass too underwhelming. Do the Grados have weaker bass than the your Bose on-ears, or just better, tighter bass? In what way is the sound superior?
