Honor the artful dead and play from your fucking heart.(exchange clocks for Bill Hicks tapping like a psychotic woodpecker in your den). John Coltrane only needed ONE listener. Hendrix hated management in 1969. Stop skull-fucking inflamed, fame-reigns, rather, ride the wicked-razors of your own seething humanity... get off facefuck - burn some mirages alone; and, bear a product for the yearning. Make the hearer drown in YOUR sublime sculpture. Wayward souls need more artisan-wizards to ignite.
@BoddhasServants Don't be a fool even though coldplay is a great band and radiohead is a good band. They don't hold a candle to Jeff Buckley and his overwhelming talent. No Cobain,Cornell,Stayley,Vedder,Harper,Johnson,Smith,Mayer etc. I mean the list is endless all combined don't have the talent Buckley possessed. He possessed the talent of John Lennon or Freddie Mercury or Robert Plant. I mean the all time greats!
@nat00ben06 um, i don't really recall saying they could hold a candle to jeff, i don't even listen to either of those bands, and your list, with the exception of cobain, cornell, staley and robert plant, kinda sucks. jeff buckley was and is the greatest musician of all time and i wasn't comparing him to anyone, just noting that those other bands wouldn't be popular if they never heard jeff buckley.
What are you on about, sir? 'Creep' is still arguably Radiohead's biggest hit, in worldwide popularity terms anyway, and was released a year before 'Grace'. In fact most of The Bends was written before Grace came out.
That's complete rubbish. Listen to live at Astoria, there are 7 songs from the Bends on there, and it was recorded 3 months before Grace was released. They are very similar to the album versions.
This song led to so much in modern music....and Jeff wasn't even done with it before he passed. The thing about Vancouver is, we witness his genius and his arpeggiated mastery of his axe and then.....damn, he is gone. My God, what the fuck did the future hold for our genius!! Un fucking believable.
I'm so glad I listened to this, I used to listen to Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk religiously when it was released, and this was always my favourite track off the album. I haven't listened to Jeff for years now and was only reminded of this unfinished masterpiece after hearing the Bamboos' cover of 'Everybody Here Wants You'. Miss you Jeff x
It's hard to believe that an artist of his caliber could die without becoming huge. He was probably killed by the C.I.A. or something who made it look like a drowning: joke. But you don't have to be number one on the charts to be a badass singer songwriter. Look at Saving Abel or Soulja Boi or whoever else....
This used to be my favourite track of all time. Few songs can match it - Ready Able by Grizzly Bear is one recent one that has this kind of intangible romantic magic to it....
Jeff Buckley - An unbelieveable talent with many classics in his short carrier! This song is a great example of his talent, very difficult song to pull off and make work!
@JFLD02186 the story goes radiohead went to see jeff buckley and thom yorke was struggling to find his voice. After seeing Jeff Buckley they were recording or practicing "Fake Plastic Trees" and Thom Yorke got through the first line and broke down in tears. Jeff Buckley would've made some incredible music if he were still here.
i love that first little riff that repeats throughout the song 0:06 to 0:08 it's just genius, and then the crescendo the end at around 2:42.... Arrrr!!!! I wish I was as damn talented as him...
@EdgarTheGreen same with me. I remember lamenting on a Nirvana video that all real music died after Cobain. But one kind gentleman corrected me and told me of this fellow named Jeff Buckley. I listened to his music and realized the error of my words.
OK im obsessed with this song i cant get enough of it and all of Jeff's other songs. man why did you have to leave us Jeff, but that said - RIP Jeff - you have a good one
There was one day where I had this song on repeat. Each time I heard it, I had chills up my spine. We all know that "MSTD" will be debated as to how accurate a representation of Jeff's intention it was. But I truly appreciate this song. Thank you.
Absolutely, it's been one of my favorites for a long time. Showed some real progression from his first album, and really captured his essence perfectly.
'I'm your loan shark of bliss...' So fucking tragic, and poetic at the same time. I really know thath feeling... Hail Jeff Buckley.

It's almost impossible how much I love this song. I think it's easily his best. It does everything he does best in three minutes.

Love this song; my favourite on 'My sweetheart..
Think it pointed to the way he was going to go; less produced and polished than the first album.
Loved Grace but would've loved if he had the chance to produce a rawer album.
Anyway, it's not gonna happen now..
