This is useful to some extent I guess... What it really comes down to is which is more common: steel wool and batteries, or a bic lighter. You can grab a lighter at any gas station lol. So this isn't very useful at all. cool trick, though.

@DallePipper The reason it works is because it creates short circuits, which spark, the steel wool has many contact points causing many sparks, Therefore starting a fire, The 9V battery is used because both positive and negative terminals are both on one side, Rather than the standard AA battery which has them on opposite ends.
