@RestatementFact , dude I dont think Ustad Sultan Khan is dead and there is no need for him to rest in peace now... And we all wish that may god give a long life to this versatile artist :) ... thank you
Several great spirit beings arose from the strings and the lights. The reverb was a living soul. The minds and hearts of all listeners, players, memories surged into one world being!
your right he doesn't know what he is talking about.... if you didn't know who was playing you would think it was jaco... and everyone should know who he is,,,,, that and the cultural fusions are mind boggling
i'm just glad that so many classical indian musicians are so open to fusion. it really says a lot about where the indian people are going. of course they haven't lost the classical side of their playing, either, but the fusion has really opened people from all over the world up to indian music in its entirety. i think a lot of thanks must go to zakir hussain for that, as he really opened up to the fusion idea.
OUT OF THIS WORLD! all do such an awesome perofrmace. true talents BUT USTAD SULTAN IS AMAZING. tracks like this allow individuals to appreciate fine instruments and legendary musicians and also to value teamwork. awesome!
If you like the tabla player you must check out Shakti!! They are a group with Hussain, El Shankar on violin, and John Mcglaughlin on Guitar. They have created some of the most amazing musical expresion I have ever heard!! Thanx for this amazing find.

benjaminshinobi 2 years ago

@narayani7devi -
benjaminshinobi's reference to the vibrato as being ridiculous, is meant as a compliment, not an insult.

That's called "Sarangi". Old Indian classical instrument. Was used much in the times of Mugal ruling in India..
There was a time, when such music was daily being played in the river front of Taj Mahal , by kings !!
