  • I love how Konishi is poking fun at Elton John in this video!

  • her voice is so beautiful

  • I think, as a heterosexual dude I am, that every men (even gay one) will feel a sexual attraction to J-women, at least a little (in the case of non-hetero-dude)

In my case, the way they move, talk, her facial expressions, the extremely polite manner of the Nippon, turns me on more than Alizée & Sara Varone kissing each other

  • gorgeous woman.

  • I LOVE pizzicato five! :) And their sense of 60's style <3

  • Maki & Konishi are both awesome, they're genius..., my inspiration! I really want to see this song to be revive by Utada Hikaru. My another fav. Japanese artist! xD

  • No song will be able to deliver such deep tristesse as this song. Solitude is drifting on a fine day. A simple POP song with an esoteric theme - Konishi should be a genius. Double or triple appreciation would have been dedicated to him if the lyrics in Japanese had been accurately delivered to nonnative listeners.

  • The opening trumpet line is basically taken from a song by Chicago, but then the tune heads off into a completely different melodic direction and ends up being killer in its own right.

  • @robibm2003

Actually, it wasn't Chicago, but "If You Really Love Me" by Stevie Wonder.

  • What a real treasure to discover on Youtube! I LOVE THIS and the two fabulous and talented artists that created it. All the influences are there (shades of 'Stoney End' etc), and yet it stands perfectly in its own space. Just beautiful... truly WORLD class. It's in my all-time top 10 now. Wow!

  • you cannot explain

    the talent of this

    group

    they are just excellent

  • It sounds like this vocalist contributed a few tracks to the Katamari games

  • @Yoostoobz

Maki Nomiya sang "Baby Universe" in We Love Katamari. It's my favorite song in the soundtrack, and how I discovered P5.

  • @StanBennet I think so, and I like S.O.S. too!

  • Perfect!

  • great video, great soulful song, the Japanese equivalent to the uk's 'Swingout Sister'. I've been checking out all Pizzicato Five's songs/videos and like most of their tunes with some real soulful uptempo sounds...(wish I could understand Japanese though) a cracking group!

  • @SherwoodofRobin Japanese version of Swing Out Sister? (I agree) I've already thought about that! xD

  • ñ_ñ

  • Oriental Swingout Sister?

  • I love Pizzicato Five...This song's intro is patterned after Stevie Wonder's intro to "If You Really Love Me" from 1971. Konishi takes the song into a bossa nova direction, but still retaining the basic character of the Stevie Wonder track. ....Konishi and Maki are geniuses!

  • @THEmotownboy If you're going to steal, steal from the best.

  • @StanBennet - Not only is there the Stevie Wonder reference and inlfuence, but the horn section and arrangement become very much like that of the group "Chicago" in their early 1970s period...with songs like "Just You & Me" or Saturday In The Park."

  • TRISTE IS SAD IN PORTUGUESE !!!! BOSSA NOVA SAD

  • "Triste" is italian for "Sad"

  • @fellinian also in latin and spanish means sad. In fact, "Triste" is a latin word.

  • hey a cheer up dude go see avatar

  • I wrote a very sad song when I woke up this morning but I won't let you listen to it because it's too sad a song It's a very sad story maybe you noticed it too it's really very sad but our love is over like this we held each other we saw the same sunrise I had a very sad dream this morning before I woke up I dreamt that I was singing a sad song and you just kissed me
  • I'm really sorry I've loved you so but... I'm really sorry you've believed only me but... I'm really sorry I've loved you so but... I'm really sorry but in the end we can forget everything
  • It's Japanese "Swing Out Sister"

  • but better = )

  • Amazing - shows how fucked up western record executives are that they couldn't get this stuff out to the rest of the world years ago. Thank god for Youtube and file sharing........

  • @tNJippoes well... you can hear twiggy twiggy in the first charlie's angels movie. It wasn't in the ost though.

  • and so what?

  • Wow, it's as if Laura Nyro, Stevie Wonder, and Todd Rundgren sat down to write the ultimate breezy, soulful, toe-tapping, finger-snapping pop song! I'm absolutely amazed at Konishi Yasuhara's songwriting skills. Well, more like songwriting gift. I actually (and easily) put him in the same class as the aforementioned. And of course, who's more elegant and cool than Nomiya Maki? And what a way to portray this song but through such a cool video. P5 is certainly one of Pop music's greatest!

  • Good call. I'd also throw in Burt Bacharach, Paul Weller and the entire Brill Building. Yasuharu Konishi is one of the greatest pop auteurs of all time, and Maki Nomiya, one of the greatest interpreters of song.

  • Perfect soulful groove, summertime fresh, brilliant musicianship, totally sublime with a mesmeric vocal and what a classy, stylish video. Has to be appreciated again and again if you are a genuine 'eclectic' dance music lover. Why can't all genres of music be made to this standard of excellence. I can't say anymore about this group, they are just 'out of this world'. Thank- you 'Pizzicato Five', you've restored my faith in quality music again.

  • You have a great taste!

I wish I could have a High Res picture of that!

  • why did they have to disband... such a nice band.

  • So triste they disbanded!! Just in love with Miss Maki, just worship Konishi-san! P5 FOREVER AND EVER!!

  • It doesn't get any better than this - what a group!

  • and she looks so great in that Burberry skirt

  • the Piano in this is just brilliant

  • i just love them!

  • My favorite song ~

  • GREAT GREAT SONG..but my favorite will allways be CATWALK

  • I absolutely adore Pizzicato Five! <3 Maki Nomiya. Every P5 song makes me happy inside ^_^

  • I'm dizzy!!!

  • It is not easy to write a catchy pop melody over such deep chords. Konishi is amazing.
