If I understand your video, you think marriage in general is a bad idea if done for the wrong reasons, so that's why u support ban on gay marriage. That doesn't make sense. What if a gay couple loved each other deeply and wanted to make a life with each other and had all the other qualities you mentioned that made a good marriage...would u still deny them their right? Just because I think something is a bad idea, I don't think that gives me the right to deny others the right to do it.
I feel in this day, marriage has become more of a license rather than a union for love. I know couples of all types who have been together for awhile and are making families without having the law behind their backs. They are even making wedding ceremonies without the papers, and they are celebrating their unions together. Having to "sign" a contract to be together these days is almost becoming as lame as having to pay 1:50 for a bottled water. Love should be free, not a "legal" right.
No one said love is a "legal" right. I agree with you that marriage shouldn't be handled by the government. However, IF there are legal documents involved I think that those legal rights should be given to people EQUALLY. If you're for that, then I don't hold any issue with you. I think that marriage should be a celebration that the government doesn't have a part in. It's the inequality of the current system that I have issues with.
Actually, I disagree with where you went at the end.
Even if it's just "bullshit" to be recognized by the state as being married, it's still discriminatory not to be recognized as married. We need to end the discrimination regardless how important you think the "political and legal right" is.
neither logic nor math you stupid, pinched dumbfuck.
straight-just not narrow. what gives you the right to determine who marries who? truth is nothing gives you that right. don't like it, don't get married.

Well done Powder!
People do marry for the wrong reasons, in general, and gay people should be allowed to do it too.

you are apparently one of the few that like to listen to Olbermann as per his Nielson ratings!
marriage = man + woman
man + woman ≠ man + man
pretty simple logic!

marriage: the state of being a married couple voluntarily joined for life (or until divorce); "a long and happy marriage"; "God bless this union"
two people who are married to each other; "his second marriage was happier than the first"; "a married couple without love"
the act of marrying; the nuptial ceremony; "their marriage was conducted in the chapel"
a close and intimate union; "the marriage of music and dance"; "a marriage of ideas"
Nothing about a man or a woman in there.. ;-)
