Covering Hendrix ist one of the hardest things in pop music. A Hendrix cover will never be better than the original. But Cullum manages to capture the soul of the song and make some totally new and incredibly hot out of it - its fantastic! I think Hendrix himself would have loved this piece...

My God, this was an encore song at his first concert that I went to. He's amazing.

No one should object to this because he's not as talented as Jimi Hendrix. Very few, if any, guitarists that have EVER lived can reasonably claim to be so. It doesn't change the fact that this cover is a totally bland, half-arsed sonic mutilation of an all-time classic. This version is ALMOST as bad as his diabolical attempt at Jeff Buckley's "Lover, You Should've Come Over". Yuck.

What I find really weird about covers, is not the cover itself, but the comments on it. For example, The Fray covered Heartless. EVERYONE started to say things like: LOL KANYE , FRAY PWNS U. and now its like. HES GOOD BUT NOT BETTER THAN JIMI.

Let me get this straight people, ALL the artist cover songs because they feel like their OWN INFLUENCES may give the song another style, swing, genre or whatever. It's becaue it changes the direct feeling that the song gives you, with the same lyrics.
