I'm white and conservative but I'm not religious. It's only in the US that they go hand in hand. I'm in New Zealand, and both our current and previous prime ministers are atheists. A National (center-right) government is currently in power. We're scrapping about racial separatism here as well, actually. In a nutshell, one ethnic group (the Maoris) are claiming ownership of all of our beaches and coastal waters, and everyone else is worried that we will lose our rights to use them as well.

He did it because him and many others believed the collateral damage from letting them fail would cause even more pain to average people. There was an interesting essay by an actual socialist during the time of FDR who said that what FDR was doing wasn't socialism, but temporary state capitalism. I can't remember his name but google it.

However, socialism (little S) is the taking of people's accomplishments and giving them to others. marxism is the control of the means of production. progressivism is the slow move to marxism. Currently we are in the nationalization part of the pattern.
There is a history of taking and returning by the gov't. TARP disproved this being one.

One of the great things about Bill's show, as this episode shows, is that he lets his guests have their say. Even when he get's a right-wing christian conservative on, he let's them speak their mind. Fox News (aka Fixed News, Fucked News, Fake News) cuts off people that disagree, cuts their mike, throws them out. Is that fair & balanced? I'm black and live in a majority white state. White ppl start so much shit all the time out of their fear that black ppl will take over and pay them back for slavery or somerthing. @acanawuppazz I was living in DC the night Obama was elected. My friend wanted to go downtown but I was afraid of the potentially angry black mobs down by Howard University who might be out for revenge. We went anyway. People, black and white, spontaneously poured onto the street. Some were laughing, some crying, people were hugging each other. Everyone was happy. I felt very welcome. And the people at the inauguration were the nicest, classiest "mob" ever assembled in DC at one time.
