BTW, the proposition to provide Americans with a gas tax "holiday" is a ripoff. Lowering the price of gas by offering a tax holiday will only encourage people to drive more and waste more, while providing the oil companies with increased revenues and profits, which will in turn translate into even more political power for them at the polls and in Washington. I was glad to hear Obama oppose the tax holiday, and I wasn't surprised that Hillary Clinton supports it. that says a lot right there.

It's much more complicated than that. To point to 1 thing and say This is THE problem is to show a very narrow vision. Yes our paper money is a BIG problem and bringing back the gold standard will be a big step in the right direction but we're so far off track that no 1 step no matter how big is going to be enough.

I heard an interview with David Cay Johnston recently (check out his book "Free Lunch"), and he was saying that every penny of our taxes paid between January 1st and April or May goes toward paying off the INTEREST on our debt.
