Yes, they could darken it up a bit, but with all that sweet eye candy and the detailed/interactive world, the extended light radius really doesn't bother me so much.

Obviously 3 looks a lot like WoW. They're made by the same company, and no doubt they used it because of the success WoW has gotten. As for the gameplay tho, I do agree with the fact that it has lost its gloomy, dungeon crawl feel and become more colorful and exotic. It seems this would be a ploy to appeal to the younger generation with the colorful feel, but also to previous diablo players just because it's a diablo game. More players = More profit.

Don't let graphics get you down, it's just as much a classic as D2 (in fact D2 was criticized for not looking much better) and it has a great mix of survival horror with RPG gameplay. There is a mod out for D3 that makes the game look more gothic and gritty. Colors are still there but they are sharpened and dulled a bit to make the game look more like the originals. Also the dungeons are a bit darker so that adds to the mood. I quite like it.
@Zyzerzan I have the beta since like beginning of January. I've got a special color mod that makes the colors gritty and darker, now it looks like Diablo finally. Otherwise its all cartoony and blurry(like WoW). I hope blizz doesnt block it in release, or I'll kill them. Its a really simple mod, but very effective. Now only to get read of corny boss dialogs :D

Diablo 3 looks like a korean mmorpg. Colorful splashes, huge monsters, super powers, weird weapons. What I like about the old diablo games is that dark, sinister and gory mood. This looks more like a game for kids.

God, my first husband and I used to drag into work after playing Diablo and Diablo II all night long. If he hadn't passed away (brilliant engineer-stupid smoker) I think he would have liked Diablo III as well, but yeah - the first one is still the best.

Unbelievable by how far Diablo 1 has the best atmosphere of them all. In this video it is ridicoulosly obvious! If you take 100 Percent as the atmosphere of the first diablo you can give D2 50% at best and D3 not more then 70%. Diablo 1 has this stunning mixture of creepy sound and environment that makes it so special. This feeling is lost since then....

lol i dont blame you, this video sucks ass. in the footage of diablo 1 and 2 there were no spells cast and watching someone switch their gear around is boring unless youre the one using the gear. so all you saw was a warrior and a barbarian hitting some of the first monsters in the game. diablo 3 was the only video to show the actual skills/spells, multiple areas, multiplayer, interesting looking gear, a boss fight, different enemies, etc.

Diablo 1= Gothic, medieval Europe.
Diablo 2= Gothic Dark Ages/Mixed.
Diablo 3= Happy, bright, gay WoW colors everywhere. Corny sounding and looking bosses, instead of demonically creepy.

Diablo 3 looks like a korean mmorpg. Colorful splashes, huge monsters, super powers, weird weapons. What I like about the old diablo games is that dark, sinister and gory mood. This looks more like a game for kids.

God, my first husband and I used to drag into work after playing Diablo and Diablo II all night long. If he hadn't passed away (brilliant engineer-stupid smoker) I think he would have liked Diablo III as well, but yeah - the first one is still the best.

diablo 1 had best storyline, music n voices but all 3 r a bit unrealistic in that they dont slow down or have wounds when they get hit/injured badly; maybe something to do with the armor perhaps??

Unbelievable by how far Diablo 1 has the best atmosphere of them all. In this video it is ridicoulosly obvious! If you take 100 Percent as the atmosphere of the first diablo you can give D2 50% at best and D3 not more then 70%. Diablo 1 has this stunning mixture of creepy sound and environment that makes it so special. This feeling is lost since then....

lol i dont blame you, this video sucks ass. in the footage of diablo 1 and 2 there were no spells cast and watching someone switch their gear around is boring unless youre the one using the gear. so all you saw was a warrior and a barbarian hitting some of the first monsters in the game. diablo 3 was the only video to show the actual skills/spells, multiple areas, multiplayer, interesting looking gear, a boss fight, different enemies, etc.
this is just a promo for d3, nothing more
