It was such a simple message! Said in such a beautiful way! Well done!

  • Very nice film, but whats the font used during the credits?

  • very nice movie i saw it once more after i fineshed

  • @JoelHazellFilms lol yout a funy guy hahaha

  • Such a great film. I am such a sucker for films that have that "European" story telling flair -- like Amelie. The film and music score seemed somewhat inspired by that as well. Great job and keep making movies! Anyone who dislikes this film is just jealous that you have more creativity in your pinky finger than they have in their soul. Keep it up!

  • I really loved your story in the film, I was able to connect with the two characters, and reflect on my own life experiences. When I do that kind of reflecting, I remember the moments that seemed to come from a place in me that is and will always be beautiful in its' simplicity.

  • May I know what equipment you used in production and post-prod? thanks. incredible movie :)

  • @thesaviorofthebroken Put it in the prescription :) thanks

  • thanks! cx

  • haha loved it what camera was used the cinematography was really nice

  • "and naturally, like any other eight year old, he invited her to dinner"

  • Very perfect.

  • great job, especially with the camera work and editing. It looks like you were probably inspired by Wes Anderson, but I might be wrong :). I'll be posting a short movie of my own soon on hillendfilms, check it out and tell me what you think if you get a chance

  • was this filmed in mackay ?

  • I cried tears of joy.

    This is so perfect.

  • Loved it...

  • What about the other boy?

  • this is absolutely, unnequivocally perfect.

  • so adorable and inspirational. you're amazing.

  • Hi!, nice video. which uni is it?

  • really really good except shes left handed when shes small and right handed when shes older

  • This video has inspired me so much. <3

  • Sad

  • i so love it. i wish id be able to make something amazing like this. great job. it really is!

  • o my gosh this is CRAZY SWEEEEEET :D

  • This gives people hope. Hope in love. Which is normally hard to find. It makes me smile and gives me butterflies.

  • Where can you get the theme song to this video? [:

  • Love the camera angles.

  • Very professional, very creative. I love the pace and the use of texts!

  • Really really great job. Loved the narration and the detail of the kids when you introduce them. Nice, simple and well told story. Again, loved it.

  • I loved this so much. Nice work :]

  • notice short film but pull her shirt up.

  • you did a very good job, may i have the transcript of this video? please...

  • @brandonctlee Amazing. I'm in college, studying communication & the teachers task us short films all the time, and when I see yours, I realize the excellent job you guys did. The shots, the locations, the colors, the edition, the script. I wish someday I do such a good work as you

  • @anittaO thanks man :)

  • Very promising talent. Creative, knowledge of rules, power of style. Well done.

  • hey, will you be making more videos?

  • @autumnwytch Yes I will be, in a few weeks forsure. I'm just currently on uni break and first semester at uni we didn't many production subjects in film, more theory. But next semester, which starts in like a week, I will be making a many more music videos :) just strapped for time but soon i promise. and it's going to be freaking cool

  • @brandonctlee I can dig it. But how does she recognize him? Wouldn't she freak out when se came home ans saw a strange man in her kitchen? And 2:22...ass cream?

  • @KrfNYC2

the story shows they were together since they were young and they still like the simple days better.

  • @kingkonghitme I know. But how do they recognize eachother?

  • @KrfNYC2

what do you mean "recognize eachother"....this is showing that they have been together since they were young...so childhood couple. grew up with eachother. they live together. so she comes home and he surprises her with their anniversary the same way he treated her to a sandwich on their first childhood date. they each got their dream job and also got eachother so they've been together ever since they were little i suppose.

  • @kingkonghitme But it says that they both would return to their houses alone.

  • @KrfNYC2

....yes alone from work.....in to the house where they live together . dude watch it again.

  • @kingkonghitme I don't think so. Why would you emphasize the fact that they walk alone? You would emphsize the fact that they live alone. Look at their facial expressions. They look saddened. I could be wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.

  • @KrfNYC2 for the short to bring us to that moment when you realize they never split, they found eachothers in their childhood and never let go...

they dont look saddened and if they do so its because it sayd "after a long day of work" i doubt your face is the happiest one after a long day at work lol

  • @karinalorenalexia After a long day of work I am tired...not depressed. I just think that it seems as though they (at least the girl) looked sad on their way home. I got the impression that they lived alone and where not together. It's just a matter of interpretation.

  • Comment removed

  • @OMGaGIRLGAMER I interpreted it as the anniversary of their date when they were children. We're really just specualting. Peace.

  • @brandonctlee okay, that's great. coz i simply can't stop watching your simplicity video. :)

  • @brandonctlee Flash was used for what? Loved Simplicity :D!

    THANKS!

  • 7 people only saw the complexity.

  • OMG OMG OMG THAT LITTLE KID GOES TO AB! :D

  • amazing. the woman is captivating :)

  • this is just really really beautiful

  • amazing amazing amazing. you just earned yourself a new subscriber. keep making videos.(:

  • wait so what was the whole point of ivan!

  • @baroncaba - ivan was the alibi. without ivan, the meal would probably have been cooked by his or her mum, and not nearly as successful...

  • Its awesome and works like this inspires me to do more good stuffs. ♥ from India !

  • Hi, I am in love with this short film, and I absolutely love the sound track, is there anyway I can obtain the song?

  • @denchang123 I've been trying for a while man. I'm at university at the moment and all the files are at my old school and it's taking a while to get back there and get it off the computers in the audio suites (its in a different city) but as soon as I do I'll post it :)

  • @brandonctlee Thanks!! and what lenses did you use for this film?

  • wait.. this is the first video where I don't see red line under!

  • The thought of such simplicity is amazing. If only the world could be the same.

  • woow almost 100,00 views now!

  • aw!

  • you've got some talent there.

  • I'm confused... he made the sandwich and not her?

  • Very nicely done. I would have preferred that you duck the music a bit while the narration was going on as it was difficult to hear the story. Otherwise, great story.

  • charming short. i like the moment where she shut her diary book. i will say though, the film did seem derivative of Amelie and The Royal Tenenbaums, The fx shot with the dolly move across the food items and the titles appearing over them was cool and nicely comped. the font seemed a bit cheesy though. Some of the shots on the playground were also a bit overexposed. The editing was a good start but if you tighten up some of the cuts it will help the overall pacing. Keep it up!

  • Reminds me of Amelie

  • Amazing, 10/10. I never comment youtube videos but this was special. I commend you.

  • i loved every second of it, it made me kind of tear at the end... don't know why, but so touching...

  • gorgeous film, lovely plot.

interesting choice of voiceover. fantastic job! i hope i can make a film as good as this for my final piece in film and tv production.

  • That short movie was amazing! I am not a film buff by any means, but I truly enjoyed that story. Keep up the incredible work!!!!!:)

  • Really good. Poor Ivan :(

  • @theojabroni lol

  • Simply amazing. :)

  • I like how Ivan was introduced and then never brought up again.

  • Very beautiful film! I loved it :D

  • I Love This Video <3 Its So Cutee

  • This is the cutest thing ever! :)

  • OMG THI SIS AMAZING!! <3

  • GO BRANDON! I LOVE YOU!

  • fantastic editing, really great shots and the quality is amazing! also i love the way so many sound effects are used or at least it seems like it. jw did you record them all separately and then edit them in? also what program did you use for editing? overall fantastic great work i'd be proud of myself if i were you

  • @bodsmith94 Unfortunatley directing kid actors is pretty full on and such I was talking to them the entire time so I had to do everysingle sound in post. SO that was a good two day sin front of a microphone chopping things, making splash noises etcetera. For the sound we used Protools in a recording studio my school had. For the actual editing of the film we used Final Cut Studio. Colour graded in Color 1.5 and the special effects are all After Effects

  • the photography and shots are so amazing, congratulations this is the best short film i've ever seen! x

  • This is sweet, but in my opinion the narration should be slower, well done though :)

  • Shot on DSRL?

  • @ForeverFire yeah it was shot on a 7D

  • I cried. it's such a good short film.

  • believe it or not Brandon and i are brothers seperated at birth from pindara hospital.

  • 6 people hate lebanese guitarists

  • BRILLIANT! shots were incredible!

  • BRILLIANT! shots are incredible, acting is entertaining, plot is great

only one thing that you might want to look into is the order of the recipes... they seem to be out of order/not co-ordinated with the narration.

    GREAT JOB THOUGH!

  • That's so cute:}

  • I tweeted this its freaking amazing everyone needs to see it. (:

  • I like the narration style. Great Job! :D

  • this was amazing :') good on you <3

  • saaaaa good :)

  • "And naturally, like any other eight year old, he invited her to dinner." haha... naturally, at eight years, I would've been like "ewww, cooties!"

  • good stuff (:

  • little jane was left handed but the grown up jane is right handed. oops.

  • To all those that want the music I can get it online in a week or two. I have to wait until my school reopens so I can use the music computers to get it,

    thanks, Brandon :)

  • @brandonctlee thank you so much brandon=) keep up the fantastic job!

  • @4seasonspring Things happen. But children switch left/righthanding like they want.

  • @brandonctlee Can't wait to have the music for this... It is just amazing all the feelings you get from it combined with the fantastic job you did on the short.

  • @brandonctlee I think the song is "Bouncing with Bud's Bubble" by Andy Laverne Trio

love the photography and the flow of the story. Combined with the music you can't hide you took the ideas from Amélie :)

  • @friedgreenjose Amelie and The Royal Tenenbaums ;)

  • @brandonctlee Could I please have it too?
