hetfield is one of the most under rated guitarists out there. people are way too hung up on how fast guitarists can play. take slayer for example, their solos are fast as hell but they dont play too well live. thats because when they are writing these solos they are trying to sound talented, whereas metallica tries to make music that sounds good. metallica plays below their ability. listen to the s&m album, it is flawless.
