Maroon 5 vs. ColdPlay

They sound completely different to me. Coldplay can be hit or miss (some of their songs are a chore to listen to) while Maroon 5 has consistently good to great songs. That said, when Coldplay hits it, they blow every other current artist out of the water (i.e. Viva la Vida, Violet Hill, Scientist, etc.) I think Maroon 5 is more catchy and fun, but Coldplay is a better band and overall better musicians. Adam Levine is the more charismatic frontman, but Chris Martin is the better songwriter.

I love both bands but Coldplay is my favourite band anyways! My 2nd favourite is Maroon 5 and they're both brilliant in their own unique ways!
