Hopefully maybe Tata can put whatever they have learnt in the Commercial vehicles segment into these British beauties.....A crap load of torque would be nice :D.
I think that early 90's ones are sooo cool...really rugged and (at the time) unique. Now, to me, they just seem like any escalade...yukon..navigator..etc
Most of them are lemons, Consumer Reports has them as the least reliable cars with the most problems, and that is an absolute fact. Beautiful car though.
Land Rovers after 2001 were built better and more reliable than older models. Although Consumer reports is a good source of information they are not always correct in their reporting. I owned a 2001 Discovery II and after 125,000 miles not one problem. Regular maintenance and oil changes. As wih all cars you have to maintain them regularly. Something most american buyers are not accustomed to.
Is this OK with you Americans? can you all understand him OK, you don't need subtitles? or are you having problems understanding the English language... Great cars arent they!
a possible purchase if I win big with the lottery but I'm not a big fan of "virtual" displays. Round dial, numbers and a needle please. Improve somewhere else. I picture big bills to repair. You should not need a new computer board when your speedometer breaks.
As much as I love these new models im very sad to say that land rover is for getting its roots. i.e, Defender for army, rescue, police, farmer and off roader (real work horse). Discovery was for the person that couldnt aford the range rover or wanted more seats because of kids or both but still wanted real off road ability and the flag ship RANGE ROVER, the jaguar on road and defender off road all in one. Why mess with what worked. If its not broke dont fix it. Long live Land Rover
For 100 000 km my V6 TD engine was 5 time repaired, so each time It was in service garage min 7 days, infact my RRS Range Rover Sport spent more time servicing than sreving me. I ll never ever buy any of this producer, and IMPORTER do not taka care at all, so after sale there is a zero support REALY BIG DISAPOINTING. This is a situation in Macedonia
Umm.... no. Audi V12 TDi is a road going version of the engine in the Audi R10 Le Mans car. Its meant to be a halo model, a showcase of what they can do with diesel engines. I think it would have been too easy for Audi to put a V12 petrol engine in any car, instead they did it with a diesel engine, now they are the only manufacturer with a 12 cyl. diesel engine.

Nice machine, but the original Range Rover itself is the thing, not the Sport.

The understanding is that when BMW made Land Rover, 2000-2004, they were very good vehicles. Once Ford took over in 2005, they became a nightmare.

Thats not true...2006 and up are SOOO much better iin and out then the 2000-2004.

It is such a shame that Land Rovers have so many reliability problems, they are beautiful cars but why take the chance of having a lemon.
b0219u 2 years ago
not all, mine has been running fine for more than 5 years... it just leaks some oil from taking it off roading now and then
rawimpact 2 years ago
If it is a lemon you can give it back!

CRAP? THOSE CARS ARE CRAP.
MY CRAP WOULD BE A MERCEDES G, DEFENDER, VW TOUAREG, FJ OR LAND CRUISER ( ANY ONE with a DIESEL motor in manual gear box if possible).
If you know cars then you should already know that LANDROVERS HAVE MANY SERIOUS RELIABILITY ISSUES.

Thanks!

'oh, and why we own the rest of the world' reflects exactly why the rest of the world holds america in such a low regard.

THE AUDI V12 Tdi IS SOO STUPID.
Why didn't they make it a PETROl.
It would be far more smoother, better sounding and faster.

I love how Land Rover wavies their middle finger at the world.
"you want more mpg's? we will give you 510 hp!"
who cares really, I would buy one if I had the money and honestly people who buy these don't care about mpg.
notthehulk442 2 years ago 13
They care about mpg...just not enough to bother to notice their actual mpg while driving it to the supermarket.

@notthehulk442 and are great mechanics too! ;-) LOL (just in case this worse than KIA reliability vehicle breaks again).

In all seriousness, Land Rovers have such a limited marketplace anymore.
