  • I believe this bus is now retired.

  • Love that L-10 Awesome video!!

  • buses rule

  • Is this an naturally aspired (no turbo) engine? In hong kong older AC buses used to have LT10 and LTA10 engines...

  • its turboed. jus isnt a loud turbo as other engines are.

  • The bus - at the time of this recording & videoshoot - has the air conditioner turned on, which further drowns out the turbocharger noise.

  • a 3 speed for real? thats no good

my school bus has a 4 speed and cant make it over 55 without overreving

  • A Voith 3 speed with the L10 can do 60 MP/h easily. A Voith 3 or 4 speed could easily do what a Allison 6 speed could do.

  • Many an Orion V or Gillig Phantom equipped with the L10/D863.3 (this powertrain) has a 4.1:1 rear end ratio as standard. A 4.1:1 can push this bus up to 63 mph at the engine's governed speed of 2,100 rpm.

Non-governed (2,300 rpm max engine speed), the same 4.1:1 rear end ratio can make this bus go to 70 mph.

  • bet that bus would run like a champ with a set of Eaton 390 rear ends.

  • @s172mch an L10/Voith 3speed drivetrain can easily go 80 and I've done it many a day

  • Those buses have a great sound. I've been on a St. John's Metrobus Transit 1993 Orion V that has a Cummins L10.

  • Did that one have a Voith tranny?

  • I think!
