  • It's good to come back to something like this when there's nothing else on YouTube

  • the music at 4.00 is like hammer house of horrors!

  • @musicmanoo ... I couldn't see anything but erect nipples at 4:00 lol

  • @FCSchalke77 ha ha yeah lol

  • cheers 4 the uploads. i saw these on yorkshire tv back in the early 80's the first in the uk to get 24 hour tv. there even better than i remember.

  • Interesting how Vera Bennett has such a disdain for prisoners, yet addresses Doreen and Lizzie by their first names rather than last names. That suggests some sort of familiarity, for which good ol' Vera wasn't exactly world-renowned. :D

  • Back again lol

  • Well I'm back here again... straight from watching the final 692nd episode. This must be My 4th or 5th time now. I don't ever watch television... just pcbh on here. I really should just buy the boxset :D

  • I was so totally addicted to this show!:)

  • and a few episodes later lizzie and doreen are the best of friends =D

  • however now that it's nearly 10 mins in I can see why it was strangely addictive!!

  • who the hell loved this? It is actually the WORST acting I've ever seen on a TV soap EVER

  • @MrFameMonster2010 You haven't seen Hone and Away or Neighbours, have you? nothing beats that bad acting.

  • I have just finished watching prisoner for the 4th time and i am watching it for the 5th time

  • just finished all 692 episodes, took me 2 years to watch them all... obsession is a terrible thing and now, I'm back at episode 1 for the 8th time. Yes folks, this crazy man has watched Prisoner Cell Block H, all 692 episodes, 8 times. That's 5536 episodes.... I need a life.

  • @clarkjkent1984 yeah i know what you mean i have just finished watching it for the 4th time and currently watching it from the start again.

  • 8.50 - 9.20 is the best part. Gotta love good ol' Lizzie Birdsworth & her antics :D

  • As cheezy and greezy as I remember!

  • hurrah for nipples breaching blouse 4:03

  • Lizzzie i loved lizzie wanted her to be my nan!!!

  • Use to watch this in the 70's as a kid, thought it was terribly naughty. Now I'm an Old and still think so! Love this show, thanks so much for posting.

  • Doreen: As played by a young Ozzy Osbourne.

  • pure class

  • bea smiths tampon musta been a brick, thats how hard i thought she was back then

  • the one who is playing sister plays hazel kent later on

  • i just finished watched the whole 692 what a journey amazing dont stop watching them because they are having a bad few eps. they do get better and better in my view the first 200 have a different feel about em but when the freak comes in at 287 the show is SOOOOO GOOOD!

  • Starting my 3rd re-watch of the entire series: it never gets old, stale or boring.

Sure, there's nothing like the very first time but I'm enjoying it every bit as much; I could literally just sit there and watch the entire PCBH series over and over and over ad infinitum....don't know what it is about it but damn I Looooooooove this show; I'd be content to never watch anything but it again! I just wish it could go on and on and on and... I wish it were real.....and happening now.....

  • @danceofthegoblins No worries, I got the same problem. Soon I'll be no longer bathing, eating or doing anything but feeding my cell block addiction. It's just that good.

  • Bea Smith was the best top dog in the series. No one beats Queen Bea!

  • @IamTheDeviInDisguise Myra does

  • I watch this clip whilst listening to Kylie Minogues " Get Out Of My Way" ...

  • I watch this clip whilst listening to Kylie Minogues " Get Out Of My Way"

  • To anybody who is watching this show for the first time, YOU ARE IN FOR ONE HELL OF A RIDE!!

  • @psychelatte Very true, indeed.

  • Christ I've got foul wind, just as well that you can't smell it it's foul...

  • so corny.. I was just watching it on Channel 111

  • These early episodes were good, get past 418 and your heading into crap, camp OTT plots. Bad Girls is not fit to lick Prisoner's boots. Full of soap rejects aswell that have been in Coronation Street,EastEnders et al or more than one of each.

  • I know so happy that it's back on again.

  • Australian Foxtel channel 111 to be showing Prisoner tonight at 6.30pm

  • @BondiBeachGirl I know, how cool is it that it's back on tv again?

  • Can anyone help me out? My grandfather's house was used to film an episode of Prisoner in the late 70s, and I'd love to find the exact episode. They chose his house because it was very large (2-storey house in Toorak), and they paid him a decent price to film there. It was a 1960s home, European in decor/style, lots of dark wood panelling inside and wallpaper, etc. Any ideas what episode could have been filmed there? Were there any wealthy character/storylines early on? Please msg me or reply :)

  • @Davez621 I'd assume it was the house depicted as the one Lynn Warner worked at... it was meant to be an affluent family's home. I'd assume it would be within the first 10 episodes... and for memory the house appears a couple of times... but you'll just have to keep watching to find out :) There is an episode guide on wwwentworth.co.uk :)

  • @glamatomic Thanks so much! I found the scene, in episode 6. :)

  • @Davez621 The house features heavily in Episode 9 when it shows more of why Lynn ended up in Prison. You would be able to find the episode here on youtube - it features around 31 mins into the episode.

  • just finished watching the very last ep & here iam again 1 year on starting all over.it really is that addictive.can't wait to see all me old mates again LOL

  • Seriously, if you like this, watch Bad Girls <3 ;)

  • Did they know she was going through drug withdrawal? Maybe if they get her into a rehab she would still be alive. Plus how can those screws run in those heels?

  • who needs Prison break??? this is CLASS!!!! love it!!!

  • One Of my All Time Favorite Shows.....

  • Nice 1 mate thank you for the uploads i have never seen these early episodes.

  • Just up to after Fletchers family blown up by Ray Meagher/Plenty episodes left :-))

  • Classic.......

  • I watched this when it was first run on a stv then it was rerun on channel 5 so I watched it again and now I can download it a watch over and over

  • @FFCRULE100 i never heard of this show, when exactly was it on , where , and was it a popular show? i guess its english...

  • @msnikish

    No, it's Australian cobba :)

  • @msnikish From 1979 till 1987 It was very popular, a cult classic and It's from Australia.

  • @msnikish It was made in Melbourne, Australia, 1979-1986. It was popular on Australian TV, especially for its first 5 or so years, with ratings slipping slightly in later years. After it ended production it became popular on UK TV.

  • @zaniac100 They were also repeated for awhile on Channel 10 at about 5am, many, many years ago. But the start of the Gulf War ended those repeats. Thankfully UK TV ran the repeats from start to end. As I was too young to be allowed to watch the first few yrs of this back in it's original airing days. And now it has become popular again since 111 Hits on Foxtel have started repeating it from the start again since earlier on this year! :D

  • @OzMissPink Oh yes don't worry I saw the series the entire way through thanks to Channel Ten repeats.

  • Who's the gal that's everybodys pal it's Hazel.

  • oh jesu', eleven years later and it's twenty past three in the morning and i'm watching prisoner. at least i don't have school tomorrow this time. thank-you, gueenbea, and damn you ;)

  • Similar here too, I'm on 115! So much has happened!!

  • Just thought I would look back at the first episode, am on 121!!! Lyn is so annoying , well when I watch it all again I will skip all the Lyn bits, bye for now x

  • This used to be on when I was a kid, I would have to stay up till midnight just to watch it do you know how hard that is when your 10 years old, Watching it now I still love this show

  • Oh god i hate lynn but have to start again. Best show EVER! I've missed Bea lizzy and doreen.

  • 9.37 hmm sister hazel =P

  • ive just watched episode 692 and had to watch the 1st one again, great show

  • @app1esuk

Me too! I'm repeating but the Lynn Warner character is going to drive me nuts. Again! LOL!

  • @Bitterbill hahaha yes her squealing about being innocent is annoying

  • @Bitterbill btw, what happened to her?

  • this was the best show

  • I used to watch this every night at 11:00 p.m.

  • That ladys Meg's husband got killed by those women there didn't he?

  • @Sheri451 See episode's 3 and 4 for the answer.

  • 03:58 - until she puts the robe on: methinks Karen is a bit chilly, bless her! And Vera calling the cons by their first names; that ain't like her!

  • Yay good old Flinders Street station there at the) beginning. Looks like it hasn't changed in 31 years (I was in Melbourne back in May

  • aint that hazel lol

  • Image i watched the very last eps yesterday....love it so much starting from the begining again....

  • is that nurse Hazel??

  • I was so happy to find this show I use to watch it when I was a kid. I know I had a crazy mama who let us watch this. But man those cell gates closing before the break. Priceless

  • Saint Meg was a lot tougher in the early days

  • fav charater is scary bitch from hell

  • Loved this show.

  • Frankie looks like Chaz bono

  • Frankie Doyle: The original Ellen.

  • @clazza01 BRING BACK PRISONER

  • best show ever

  • anybody seen re-runs of 'Tenko' on you-tube....i loved that show!!

  • I remember this show being aired in my corner of America back in 1980 when I was a wee lad. Boy, did Marilyn fuel my fantasies to the point where I wanted to emigrate to Australia!

  • I remember this as a kid it was on late night, late night tv like after the news, I used to sneak up and watch it..lol

  • watching the last and first episode in the same day is really interesting! Seeing how different the characters are before they are developed.

And i love megs use of the phrase "young woman". Brilliant.

The beginnings of the famous actor recycling - Hazel Kent is a nurse lol

  • 7:32 I forget her name but that urse plays a prisoner! The one that was 'friends' with judy!

  • HERE we go again:D:D

  • I cannot stand her constant whinning

  • Oh wow! Going back to the first episode is so different to the 550s, which is as far as the uploads have gone to date. I can't believe how camp it is. They improved the quality later. Except with the screw uniforms. These are way better than the safari outfits they end up in.

  • Lynne's constant whinning annoyed me. I think it was the pitch of her voice. If I heard her say "I'm innocent" one more time I was going to break in and let her out

  • Prisoner Cell Block H is the weirdest and best prison drama ever.

  • Is it Doreen at #0:23, leaving the bus?

  • Best chicks in the clink movie is CAGED HEAT. Hands down.

  • @Syntox What about The Big Doll House? The Big Bird Cage? Women in Cages???

  • I'm an American and I love shows set in prison, so this is quite an interesting find for me

    Very compelling

  • i loved watching this when i was a kid in the late 1970s, and yet i hardly ever hear anyone else mention the show. i guess that the show wasn't very popular here. i watched it when i lived near detroit, near the canadian border. i'm not sure whether it was on a canadian channel or a u.s. channel. i was in one of the few parts of the u.s. where canadian channels come across the border, and my parents and i often went to the canadian side when we drove around.

  • Hey krystlerita, did you know that in many ways this and The British Soap Opera Coronation St., would be the prototype for Bad Girls. Who's your favorite character on this show. I love Bea. Girlfriend was Bad!! and I mean Good.

  • My favorites are the Bea-Lizzie-Doreen trio

  • @laminage What has coronation St got in common with bad girls?

  • In 1997, when Diedre got sent to Prison for Credit Card Fraud although it wasn't her fault, the Storyline became a Media Sensation. Brian Park who was Executive Producer at the time thought it would be great to do a Prison Type Drama. So with the help of Eileen Gallagher, Maureen "Chad" Chadwick, and Anne McManus, they pooled their savings, started Shed Productions and the rest is History.

  • Also, keep in mind that the Actors/Actresses who appeared on Corrie also appeared on Bad Girls as well. Characters who played Fenner, Di, Hollamby, Julie S., Shell, Frances Myers, and Kevin Spiers

  • @krystlerita you might like Bad Girls its set in a womens prison and is also Brittish....i like prison shows as well i wonder what year this from what other shows do you like???i recently found Lexx its a sci fi show which is very odd and over the top at times but its really good so is the newer Dr Who ......

  • @krystlerita you should watch bad girls its a english/british version of this but more modern and a lot more hard core

  • Vera started by calling the prisoners by their first names. A short time later, she went to surnames. Maybe the writers thought this made her tougher and scarier! A brilliant character.

  • That was in this episode, rules for addressing inmates weren't as strict as they are in later episodes. It's good to watch a program from so long ago, especially when it comes to Prisoner (Cell Block H) as there were loads of scenes that fans found sad, boring, hilarious and many more. I personally find the majority of the scenes on Prisoner hilarious, especially in part 3 of this very first episode.

  • Hey concertinasoup, on Bad Girls, Bodybags & Fenner did the same thing always referring to the Inmates by their last names.

  • @concertinasoup The officers refer to prisoners by first names in the first few episodes, and later always by surnames. I assumed this was intentional because audiences wouldn't know the characters' full names yet, so using only first names made things easier for the audience. Later, audiences would know everyone's name so they could switch to surnames.

  • I'm sure they didn't intend this to be viewed by 10 - 12 year old Brit kids, but that was it's audience haha

  • Vera hair start light and become darker in the series

Why would doreen start a fight with Lizzie in front of Vera

  • ha ha

  • i've gotten so far ahead that looking back to the first one it even looks different. vera's hair isn't so tight, Doreen has a coming out perm shag. lovely!

  • lou kelly loves this, she loves prisoner

  • thanks 4 the upload

  • can someone tell me what happened to prisonerjenns page

  • she removed it herself - long story short.

    terrible, immature stuff.

  • In Canada, this was 'Caged Women' and was/is an amzing show. Thanks for uploading!

  • Loved this show, so great to see it again.

  • I never realised "Vinegar Tits" was there from the beginning.

  • "She bumped into me" - THE VERY FIRST EVER PRISONER CELL BLOCK H LINE! CLASSIC!!!

  • I loved this show when it was shown years ago here in Boston! I'm happy to have found it here!!

    Thanks!

  • hey! they spelled center incorrectly.
