There's good instruments from every place in the world, and this one happens to be super bad ass. I'm american and play american shit..lol..used to have a sitar...i want one of these now..it's like a multiple slide guitar with no frets/a piano with no hammers mixed with a marimba...that's so fucking dope..peace in the middle east, and i really hope my county stops being such a cunt. pz

The Europeans and Americans have the hammered dulcimer. A descendant of the Santur, (probably) came to Europe about 1200-1300 ad...(historians love to argue about dates/places on this one) it lead to the development of the Clavichord, Harpsichord and Piano in Europe. Basically, they are all harps laid sideways and played with small mallets. I play a hammered dulcimer, made and played in the style of late middle-ages/reniassance music. Santur is tuned differently.

i believe this santour is a different one from the persian one!! or maybe the player isn't iranian!! i just can't understand why he's playing with sticks?!!! i mean they're not the ones you normally use to play santour..
