@ngames1 Polow Da Don has lots ot talent. Just because he used a stock loop for one song he is automatically talentless. The nigger statement is also uncalled for.
Do you know how many rap songs are sampled?? Dr Dre samples, Kanye def samples, the majority of biggie and pac songs were sampled from 70's and 80's music.
either or, theres a rule most producers follow. NEVER use preset loops in your tracks. at least not without editing em to sound a bit diff from the original. its not like that beat was very technical either. this means he barely did anything. WEAK if you ask me.
He is not lazy. He just found those loops and put them togheter. He's got like millions of original songs and he is one of the best producers out there. Those loops are free to use and sell IF you own garageband so anybody could've done it ... but no it was him ... that's why he's up there and the rest of us are down here chatting ^^
I've been messing around garageband, and I have to say that I'm impressed at its capabilities. I realize now that he DID make an original product, and he didn't steal anything. I stand corrected! Perhaps what throws people off about garageband is how readily available it is to the public, any joe shmo can buy a copy and become a "producer" so maybe for some it took the mystery out of how commercial beats are made. With my new garageband, I'll be the next missy elliot! LOL freakafreaka....
hahaha..ok I played it for my husband who also holds a music degree and is a musicteacher and I told him don't say anything just listen- and right about 0:25 his face got sour and said "are you kidding me!" He also said your guitarist is out of tune, and he added that your drummer is fluctuating between too fast/too slow, and your tempo sucks. I told him you had a degree in music and he asked if you were on drugs. Then he got mad at me and told me to clean the house and get off youtube. Gotta go
wow seems like u really have yourself a winner, telling you to get off the computer and go clean the house. The funny thing about music is that it is an art; which means you can be as educated as you want in the field, but it really does not matter. The end result is what matters, and how many people enjoy the music.... I have heard music from people who have never taken a class on music, that sounds far better than people who spent years in college studying music.... just a thought..
plz allow me to correct myself I meant to say "get off the computer and HELP HIM clean the house." I was running out of characters and cut my phrasing short bcuz believe me, I am no domestic goddess.Regarding your comment about unschooled musicians, I definately agree, I have known many who are amazing.
And FYI -My mean comments were in response to a man who disagreed about a comment I made regarding intellectual property, (apparently he thinks its ok to steal copyrighted material) and this man wrote to me bragging about his music degree not knowing I also have one. And his music sucks, to boot.
Yo if ur mad at this cat ...get mad at kanye....get mad at dj green lantern...get mad at marley mal...get mad at premier....9th wonder...get mad at pete rock...you can even get get mad at the late J-Dilla....loop which was made to be included in makin music...last i look garage band was a music program....or go out buy some old records...composed by some one else...sample it...use it... make millions...basically the nigga took a sample and flip it...stop hatin...do you..
the problem is he didnt flip it. When you sample somethin you gotta cut it up, chop it up and make it unique. he used threw strait up samples and added a bass line, a kick and a couple sound effects, nothing that he should get millions for
THANK YOU, finally a voice of reason. All music takes from someone else, call it stealing, influences, whateva...if it sounds good and you like it, then who cares? Pretty much if it gives me goosebumps, then its hot....my goosebumps(as well as my heart) don't care about 'artistic integrity'....people should stop analyzing music and knitpicking...peace.
Your goosebumps and your heart don't care about "artist integrity" because you are obviously not a musician. It takes YEARS of training to learn to play and perform, plus raw talent and inspiration to compose an original song or melody... and it takes some idiot minutes to rip it off and turn it into a joke for commercial profit, performing for tone deaf people who use their "goosebumps" instead of their moral compass to guide them. Yes, there is a difference from sampling and outright theft.
Just an FYI you elitist prick, I hold a college degree in music, and play 5 instruments. The hell with your "moral compass?" Its only rock n roll baby, at the end of the day, its how it sounds, doesn't matter how you get there...So you can take your condescending music theory bable elsewhere...peace.
The last thing I want to do is engage you in a cyberargument(I have better things to do) but if you truly hold a degree in music (of which I also hold, working on a ph.d, not that it matters) then I would expect that you of all people would understand creative work product and its theft, and what it costs us as independent artists. If Mcdonalds allowed every Tom,dick and harry to sell their BigMacs without paying "royalties" of a franchise fee, there would be no Ronald McDonald. Have a great day
One more thing... and I'm just being honest here... I heard your video on your channel and your guitarist is HORRIBLE! His instrument is not tuned properly, and when he plays his solo beginning at 0:25, it makes my molars hurt, and the hair at my temples stands on end. I can't believe you'd post that on here - can't you hear how dissonant that is? Yuk. And FYI before you say anything- the vids on my channel are not of me, they are of other artists whose lyrics and melodies I am studying.
I see! so what is your take on pollow da don using these samples from garage band and turning it into a song? I think it definitely lacks musical talent, to say the least. But I feel that it was very creative, and his ears created an awesome "beat." Personally, I am glad he found those sounds and put them toge, ther because I really like "Love in this club;" It is really catchy to my ears!
The thing that sucks is about sampling is that the producer has to basically "name drop" in order to create a hit song. In other words, they are unable to create a noteworthy melody of their own, and must subliminally buy credibility by reminding the listener of another song that the listener has already accepted and liked. I'm not sure that "sampling" applies in this case though, because it appears that the beat/melody is original, only that it was created using garageband.
NOPE - I checked garageband and they are indeed entire loops/sequences lifted. Generally, this is the kind of thing lawsuits are made of. Its not even sampling because it doesn't revisit a prerecorded, released song. Instead, it lifts entire passages from a computer/syth program. Vanilla Ice got sued for a bass line, so I can imagine someone is getting sued for lifting a synth/background melody. I doubt Apple would embarass Usher publically, considering their iTunes relationship though.
OK... I read the manual for garageband... and it says that IT IS LEGAL to record and distribute the samples commercially, as long as they are part of your own creative work and not sold as "stand alone" piece work. In other words, using the loops is legal because you still have to creatively manipulate them to put the song together, thus making it an original product. Verdict: Polow da don is innocent of theft charges, guilty of laziness. = )
I hate this idiot. bout white girls are better than black girls sum bullshit statement he made last year or so. «his mother shuud shit on him. plus he looks evil, like some possesed creature. hate dem southern rapperséproducers they all devil worshippers
if i was going to pay him for his music, i'd pay him for HIS music, not a premade loop that comes with a program. If that was the case, I'd pay for the program.
Let's put it this way. Why on earth would you pay him $15.99 for something you could do for free?
that jus goes to show you..dont sleep on stock sounds. They can still get you paid. perfect example.lol
