  • is he stoned?

  • Serendipity !! somehow this was accidentally videoed on our first home VHS video recorder in 1988 and we (the family mam,dad & myself and sometimes the brother & sisters) spent the next six to 12 months playing back and enjoying the Andy Kershaw interview with Dwight Yoakam. this brings back some very special memories !

  • and so you should be proud of that ol flag, its got a lotta history and great tradition, and as they say them colours dont run!!!!

  • Trust me, Steve Earle has proven he not a racist. He's so liberal I have disagree with him most of the time. Probably the same for Ohio/LA Dwight. Great musicians now matter.

  • @SuperBuzz71 Dwight's from kentucky...went to college in Ohio

  • @djk28161 Dwight is a Kentucky guy through and through, born there and family wise but he graduated HS in Columbus from Northland according to Wikipedia but I thought it was Westerville South or North. That's what "Readin', Rightin', Rt. 23" is about. Rt 23 runs down through Columbus to Portsmouth then across the Ohio to KY. Not trying to argue with you, I just like claiming him as a Buckeye. I think he lived in Florence, KY for much of his childhood. But we'll claim him if we can.

  • Two great, great artists who continually put out brilliant stuff. As has already been said somewhere below this sort of stuff stands out way above all the plastic x-factor shit that we have to endure today. Viva la Steve and Dwight!

  • These two guys came out around the same time, they are both Nashville rebels, and they are both...extraordinarily great.

  • Several cut above most of the crap out there! I can't help but wonder why Steve has that "stars n bars" flag on the wall in the video, he is SO ideologically different from the type of people who usually flaunt that thing around. He is NO redneck.

  • @fancifulfilly

I expect that the flag belongs to the venue. Also, this is early on, and he may not have had much control at that point.

  • and what is exactly wrong with that flag? People might call me and like minded people ignorant for being proud of were we come from, However i call the people that call it a raciest flag ignorant. My family has been in Appalachia since the 1800's that is my heritage and i support it probably yet i'm not a raciest at all. think before you speak

  • @guitarpickinhellien Well, *I* call anybody who spells 'racist' as 'raciest' ignorant.

  • @guitarpickinhellien Well, my DH's family have been in Georgia since the 1700s, and he points out that it is NOT a symbol of the South. Not at all. It is a CONFEDERATE battle flag. Likely not racist in se, but folks who will not let go of the confederacy even now (which could have peacefully avoided that war by allowing the gov't. to purchase the freedom of the slaves but refused to do what was right)...yes I can just hear the hateful comments now! What are those folks if not racist/ ignorant?

  • @guitarpickinhellien I agree. I hate racism in any form. (Let's also secure the Northern border @ the political candidates....it has yielded far more 'fruit' from a terrorist standpoint than the Southern border effort has and is 1% secure...read up on it)

But even my own home state of Georgia has crumbled long ago on displaying it's past in regards to it's flag.

So, after that change -how are we to view our local cemetery laid out in a perfect "X" with Confederate dead?

  • @fancifulfilly He's a redneck in the sense of being simple and down to earth...but not the hate of minorities piece

  • The only place I hear of Mr. Earle is on YouTube. Alternative Country, drugs, and making political statements killed off many of these guys.

I am not at "war" with you but they need to drop the word alternative, develop their own style and keep their mouth shut about politics.

    Have a good day.

  • only song he ever had that was worth a damn

  • @hobie65202 uh, check his incredible work AFTER Guitar Town, my friend. The master of all that is the best of American, folk, alternative country, whatever label you need to apply. The best. Always.

  • D-wight is a ROCK GAWD!!

  • Steve didn't age well! Try a salad Steve !!LOL

  • What´s the name of the doc and where we could find it?

  • Awesome video. Two of my fave songs, two of my fave artists.

  • Japanese Cavemen in F# minor

  • 1st song I ever heard from Steve Earle - made me a fan 4 life.

  • @Clovergirl49 Same thing here.

  • Just for a moment I thought this was going to be a video of both playing together.

I'd pay money to see that!

  • look up steve singing last kiss

  • Great early Dwight archive!

  • 1st song I ever heard by mr. Earle--- been in love w/ his music ever since! a cut above all the other crap out there
