  • oh wait, this explains it....

  • Dear wonderingmind42,

please release the videos all at once.

This should make it easier for you to make out which impact the title had. If you release the videos one after another, you would have to consider the impact of the release order, too.

    All the best!

  • You know what really depresses me? That the first video has a lot of views because of the dramatic title, but people make stupid comments with watching the rest of the videos (the expansion pack) that patch the holes and gives questions to the arguments they raise. Shows our short ass attention span and how smart some skeptics really are.

  • EVERYONE, all he is doing is trying to get it through to people that if you believe it or not our best choice would be to do something if you would sit & listen to what he is saying than just argueing we would get some where in life but people are blind & choose to see only what they want & ignore the rest just respect the guy for trying. Thank you for what you are doing, its good to know more people are ACTUALLY doing something

  • I showed your videos in my Environmental Biology class at my university after my professor showed us Al Gore's video and she agreed that your videos were far better than his as far as getting the facts across

  • I'll be trying to incorporate that video's brevity, humor, neutrality and logic. The others I've watched are also good but that first one inspired me especially because it showed me a way to possibly reach the cynics, and it recognized the short attention span culture we're in. Thank you, Mr. Science! (You'd do a good kids' show on this subject!)

  • I feel less depressed by the situation we're in, due to your energy and your videos, particularly your first video's, optimism and verve. I know when I can get around to making my contributions to this movement

  • Try posting the video using a thumbnail of a chick with big boobs - those always get lots of views

  • what a beautifull smart fascinating man...thank you for what you are doing to try to help save us and our planet..the most important video youll ever see was so great ..thank you so much for posting these ...i will be promoting your videos everywhere..you remind me of a young carl sagan..

  • @zenmproductions How about showing us some proof? 30 thousand scientists? Proof, man, proof.

  • wouldn't it be more apt to say elan vital(veetal)...

  • you are the best! don't worry we will succeed still!

  • i love what you're doing. GO GO GO!

  • You re the man, teacher! Good work. Lets keep going. I had made publicity of your videos on my forum, infortunately not that many portuguese have a full understanding about english. Dont stop but make fewer videos with massive and useful information. Do not repeat the some message over and over again but construct new insights about the theme. And you dont have to respond all criticism, this is a world full of negative megafools and they will beat you by exaustion #

  • Your vids are great and your hats rule , what wlse could I say :D

I see that you are really trying to open people´s eyes, maybe you feel that the vids could have a greater effect on people and make them get serious about these topics. Well, maybe that´s possible but believe me: people don´t believe global climate change and peak oil stuff just because they don´t want to, not because of lack of evidence.

  • you never include all the possible sets.

    people who are always wrong.

  • titles:

    1. 2girls 1science teacher

    2. hott sexy nasty barely 18

    3. omg i cant believe she did that

    4. anyone with any brains do not watch this video I think you are very smart and you make a good point, even if you are incorrect, which I do not believe that you are, why take the risk? Just some title suggestions that may help. i personally think it may be too late.

Ps what does this archangel have against you anyways? he doesn't know anything.

  • the idea seems a little much, but it's funny. Ideas for titles, huh? Hmmm...

    1) 2girls1cup Reaction

    2) Farting

    3) Getting Naked

    4) Renetto Sucks

    5) Bush Must Die

Pretty much anything that will make people raise their eyebrows will work. Good luck on the experiment!

  • well you have to have a good name! "the most terrifying video you'll ever see" is a perfect name, and even if it is a reason why it became "viral" it still garnered very high ratings so that goes to show there really has to be a combination of having a catchy title and having great substance in order for a video to become viral. even if the title is a bit misleading you still have the very interesting video to back it up. keep up the good work!

  • Your argument is a good one ; history shows us that in the heat of battle we sometime forget where are best interests lay. In this project who what where when and why are the questions to be answered. You have kicked the ball now lets decide the answer to those 5 w's. Good work.

  • Man... what an experiment... I wish you good luck. I don't know how you do it ... but when I click the video's in the "More From: wonderingmind42" ... I end up in the frame "Related Videos".

  • An old argument.. used by 'doomsdayers' for decades. One minor (but serious) flaw though - His lower left box makes the ASSUMPTION that all that money spent actually had a positive affect. How many of us have seen how our 'solutions' to environmental problems often make a bigger mess?

  • I've seen 5000-8000 views a day lately on HIAE!

  • In the last week or so HIAE has gotten almost 30,000 new views. The clone videos are have been viewed about 8700 times. It is starting to rack up a lot of new views. I have seen responses from a lot of people from different countries as well.

  • Interesting tidbit: in the past 24 hours, HIAE has had 5000 new views, based on YouTube's tracking (75,286 -> 80,517). In other words, nearly a fifth of the new views have been in the past day. (It showed up in the Toronto Star, a major newspaper, three days ago.)

With internet exposure, like population growth, it's not the initial exposure that matters so much as the growth rate. And information tends to spread (literally) exponentially.

  • Do they watch them or just click them and go away ? Imho, wonderingmind is a great educator/teacher/professor... and he contributes brilliantly to his audience...let Al Gore reach his, the climatologists, politicians, entertainers & stars reach theirs...

  • Do you need to get your class to give it a kick-start like they did with the first one?

  • I suspect the flooding, responses to extremely popular videos, and similar are having an effect. Not to mention the news and blogs I've heard (or seen myself) that speak about it.

In the last 20 hours or so, HIAE racked up 3213 new views. I didn't track the increased views of the clone videos, but some (esp. The Most Terrifying Video 2) seem to have had a substantial increase as well.

  • How about "The most terrifying video you'll ever see"? It certainly worked the 1st time around! Great work!

  • 11 days into the new strategy and you have a little over 5100 new views and HIAE seems to be about ready to cross the 50,000 mark. The message is getting out there maybe not virally but at a good pace.

  • Thank you! Thanks for taking the time, the risk of putting yourself out there... how many people do that. You've inspired me as I am sure you have others... What the heck is wrong with people who critize and mock such an important message or the people who promote it. Frightening.

The kids in your classes are so fortunate.

Thanks again for creating messages that ARE changing the world.

  • I think that there were two factors that helped "The most terrifying..." video 1. It was summer most people think about GW in the summer more. 2. More importantly it was posted in the News and politics section and not the people and blogs section. The people that are really looking for this issue at least on Youtube are looking in N&P. May be post a copy of the vid. in N&P.

  • How It All Ends and the spinoffs also open with a slow title buildup, while TMTV opened with a casual question that everyone could identify with.

Similarly, HIAE opened RIGHT OFF with global warming, and did so at a high speed, while TMTV was slow enough that anyone could follow it and identify with it ("hook") before you played the global warming card ("line"), which you did from a neutral enough position and an appeal to rationality before you hit the crux of the argument ("sinker").

  • I'd offer to re-record it myself, and perhaps I will as a video response, but it won't take off. People know WM42 now, and he can actually address his own videos in such a way that people will take his word for it.

If I were to say "In suchandsuch, he said this, ineffectively", I'm expressing an opinion. If WM42 says it, everyone gets it right from the author's mouth and thus takes it credibly (statements about onesself are universally considered credible, even by the masses).

  • I think reposting the same video with multiple titles has only proved that it was not the title that made the video popular.

I think it helped that it had 1224 diggs (frontpage). Although I have to admit that it had to be a bit famous to get those 1224 diggs in the first place.

Maybe it was the timing or something.

  • Great article on huffpost about you. Kepp up the good work.

  • Here is a list of the most common google searches for nov. 18th 1. jerry falwell

    2. halo 3 beta

    3. melinda doolittle

    4. kim kardashian

    5. preakness 6. shrek the third

    7. taylor swift

    8. phoenix suns

    9. yolanda king

    10. opie and anthony hope this helps

  • i hope those are not gLobal statistics.

  • Great Idea. I don't think youtube will get mad b/c Ron Paul supporters do that all the time and there seems to be no constraints on them. Can I suggest, "Mars is warming too." and "None like it hot."

  • How about "Global Warming Caused By Sun - NOT!

  • Wow were at day 2 and you already have more then 200 new views? Not too shabby.

Keep up the good work and get some new hats.

  • great developments happening in the house you are building. great commenters are a sign of hope to the world. Love what you are doing.

another suggestion is to upLoad snippets of the longer video. I'm posting this video on a vLog and look forward to communicating with you about other ways. check out DavisFleetwood, his challenge to students vid is over 2million and growing and I'm sure he'd work with you.

    peace!

  • You should put together a message for pangeaday dot org. I agree with your message and I'll commit my production studio to helping you with the production.

  • thank you for all of your videos!!! I have made big changes in my life and the houses I help build as a result of watching them. you are making a difference in the world!!

  • Comment on "How it All Ends": Love it, but not for the reasons you might think. I work in risk management and am always looking for examples of risk management at work that everyone can relate to...so I have downloaded your video and am bringing it to the office and will be using it an ice breaker and topic for discussion at the risk sessions that I facilitate. Great work!

    Thanks!

    D

  • one idea is to maybe not give too much away in the title

"the most terefieng video you'll ever see" was an incredibly vague title.

it left every one curious as to what the video was really about.

P.S. i apoligize for my horrid spelling abilities

  • Google "You (Tube) Can Make A Difference". Mike Tonello has some kind words about you on Huffington Post.

  • oh yeah... what i though i would suggest...

if you want the video to become viral, maybe you could shorten it

people are not always super excited to watch a 9 minute video

    just something to think about

    definitely keep the grid though

  • That is a great idea. I'd be happy to help out.

  • I have been wanting to re-watch it again anyway...I'll do it with one of your new titles.

  • Good idea.

  • I don't know if you want to use the comments of this video as a forum but I'm sure the faithful have some title suggestions - like titles that would 'spider' across search engines;

"LiveEarth needs a kick in the pants"

    "Save Our Selves - SOS"

    "Planet In Peril"

  • GiVe 'er!

  • Good luck with the endeavor.

  • How about F. Global Warming and Al Gore; or Global Warming, Al Gore, and the Socialist Agenda? That'll get some attention. I'm joking. I really liked the redefining of global warming as Climate Destabilization, I use that term a lot and slang it up using the term Climate Destab in my roaming through the tubes comment sections. Hope this work for ya. It is a great video/piece of work.

  • Good luck

  • I dig it. Do it ^.^

  • Do you think YouTube might get mad at that? I hope not. They might give you a slap on the wrist (or a fist to the eye). Good luck, anyways, good plan if you don't get beheaded by the Almighty YouTube Owners.

  • if youtube gets mad you he should tell them he won't do it if they feature and promote his video

    and wonderingmind keep it up

and like it was said before i've been looking to watch it again

  • ive put words in to some of the guest editors on youtube about that video. they pick whos featured. a few of them are my friends but they said youtube is more interested in funny stupid stuff. ive tried.

  • damn...

well if i keeps the website running...

not that google really has to worry about running out of money anytime soon....
