Ah, this ending sure brings back memories. I absolutely love GateKeepers! It's one of my all-time favorite animes. They really should have done a lot more with it. GateKeepers has so much potential, really. A shame it only had an OVA sequel and a single novel.

@DuoMaxwell1109 i concur, :( too bad gonzo's got a handful of others to focus so i doubt that they'd revive GK -_-...its been a long while and when i come across my inbox that somebody commented on this vid, i open it in a new tab and it starts playing,the song reminds me of when i watched it a long long while ago :) ahhh memories :)

@Supermanu15 I too wish they animated 1985. Even the manga is impossible to get a hang of! I want to know what happeened. Unfortunately, it's not likely it'll happen. The first series was made in 2002 and in 2003 or so came out the 21 series...it's been far too long since they made that and they still haven't come out with 195 :( In any case, I hated the 21; it only ruined the happy ending of the original

@windragon379 yeah at first i hated 21 but because of its deep connectins with the first series i just grew to love it after watching it..yeah its sad i also dnt think they'll anim8 1985 its been like almost a decade since..i know a little about what happened it 1985 since someone was kind enough to post it but the site has expired in geocities(dot)com..

Oh yeah, I think I may know why things turned out the way it did for the series.

Maybe :

1. Gonzo wanted the sequel to be darker and more sinister to fit the modern settings. Ruriko as the mother of the protagonist would not create the effect they wanted for Gk21, that's why they opted for an unknown char as mum.

2. Ruriko wanted to get away from the deadly life of a GK? I would very much like to think that Shun tried to persuade her but it didn't work out.
