  • id give my left nut to see this live and to have been in their counterculture. would suck to be that old right now though. so if i could come back thatd be great (:

  • Hippies are amazing, in the 60's their was psychedelic rock. Now there is Psytrance + acid. Still you guys ruleee!!

  • First flew my freak flag in the 60s, proud to say I still do.

  • Just think, all these kids are now cuing up in line for their Social Security benefits.

  • relax man,. .escape.. peace and love.. no war.. whatsc ould be better? i love this generation.

  • and whats the life of hippies? no advice, imagine if every1 was hippie, from where we would get that guittars? that cars? that OIL , that clothes? they are just idiots

  • @fcbcdl

re: your statement that hippies were idiots: it took a lot of guts to have long hair back then - you'd get harassed, beaten, jailed, killed, ridiculed & not taken seriously.

the hippies that didn't work had a reason not to - so as not to have their taxes go toward the vietnam war & the establishment/corporations.

Hippies planted the seeds of change, which is now OWS. the time wasn't right, then.

  • @cherrybomb2600 read my statement again, they are just lazy people that dont know what to do in this life so they just prefer to be on drugs to avoid problems and forget them because they know that their life sucks

  • good times, weed, sex, weed, drugs, sex, music, weed, and expeccially PEACE MAN!!

  • @AMouthFullOfTruth Nowdays if you say that you will get jump lol

  • @AMouthFullOfTruth As my Hero Dick Cheney once said, "why don't you go f yourself."

  • go fight in Iraq you hippie scum. Sarah Palin was right, what a bunch of smelly, filthy losers.

  • @203207ab Would you like to be free from all your worries and stress and just relax for the rest of your life? Be a hippy, you can't live life with this beehive mindset, you need to accept the fact that some people want to be different from you, and let them be that way.

  • @203207ab Im not smelly I just took a shower.... :( lol. Peace and love man. Why fight wars of no gain? Many die for no gain. I can understand the world wars but Korea? Vietnam? Alot of men died for no reason really. We should have stayed out of it.

  • It's funny to see the old steel beer cans (guy in the begining) with the old style pop top which was fairly new at the time.

  • I was there at age 11.

  • @missyA1958 I was there when i was a baby lol

  • @169Phoenix that's pretty cool, your a part of history!

  • If you loved Woodstock, you'll love HAPPINESS RUNS:

You can put it on your Netflix Q now or order on Amazon.com

  • Make love, not war!

  • Drugs, sex & rock & Roll....gosh 70's & woodstock would have been so cool!!

  • i had just turned 4 in august of '69. I just remember the back-end of the hippie movement in the early 70s.

lots of "sex in the park" and "reefer smell" everytime we had a party at the park.

  • I would have loved to have been there! Great music! Great atmosphere!

SCREW THE TALIBAN! SCREW ALL TERRORISTS! SCREW NUCLEAR WEAPONS! JUST SCREW ALL WARS! We should all become hippies!

  • I was there and i was 18

  • what song is this?

  • "Going up the Country", band is Canned Heat!!

  • That was a totally different culture of psychedlic music.... hippies,.. easygoing, happiness and peace...i wish i was born in the 40s. that cuture lasted only for the 60s and 70s and disappeared in the 80s. in the 80s, stupids like michael jackson brought the disco cult. deep purple, pink floyd and led zep must be missing those days of splendour..

  • the song name please!!!

  • Going up the country - Canned heat

    :)

  • "Going up the Country" band is Canned Heat !...

  • hey look its the asshole self centered divorce generation

  • Anni stupendi (L)

  • It was the time in which there was the largest movement of youth. They were truly at home on the highways and by ways of America.. Damn the juggernaut won.

  • tech is killing human interaction people born since the 80s would rather text someone than give them a call.

  • yeap

  • @dannel94 Back in ancient Greece they said the same thing about books and look how that turned out...

  • @dannel94 With some people that is a good thing...

  • so, why dont we do something about it???....I would love to be free NOW, in this day and age. just like in the 60's, everyone to love everyone! come on we're all human, where did the love go? if anyone is interested to do something, put it out there, make a stand, then email me with any ideas......

  • i agree with you.

    love and peace!

  • How cool would it be to get the hippie-movement going again... *sigh*

  • omg! i wish i was born in the 60s! Love and unity everyone!

  • well if you were born in the 60s you would of been too young to experience this kind of stuff, most hippies were born in the 40s or early fifties

  • right. Well in that case.... I wish I woulda been born in the 40s!

  • Some one please tell me how this song is called

    thank you

    peace!!

  • La canzone, the song is called Going up the country. From The Canned heat

  • thank you

  • Repent of what evil? Love? Peace? Music?

  • nicely put!

  • Your a fucking dumbass...go pray to your make believe god you stupid fuck. When you die it will be darkness ..and you'll never see any of the people you love again..have a good one! :)

  • Haha. 40 years too late.

  • im 11 so i wasnt alive then but its still cool to look at

  • What a great song; I think it perfectly sums up Woodstock.

  • holy shit those nuns were fucking hot

  • funny

  • this vid makes me think of the middleage. about the same clothes, and some of them looks like they have the plague.

anyway its was a good idea they had, about love and peace, but stupid of them to ruin the dream at the same time.

had they just supported atom-power(not atom bombs like some freaks mistake it for) instead of spreading fear about it, when we would have an(almost) infinite amount of harmless energy, and no global-warmning-criese. instead they wasted both theirs and our time

  • hippies for life

  • my farther was there, he went to woodstock hooked up with anti military people smashed the girls and went to Marine Corps bootcamp 3 days later (not drafted) that is a good scam, im in the Army but if things were like that today i would have pulled the same scam

  • your father is a great man and you should be proud.....hippie chicks are so fucking stupid...all you need to do is feed them that peace love and unity crap.....next thing you know your balls deep in there cunts.....hahaha...right on for your old man

  • Alright, you got me. Well... he was in one of the bands. 1 fat guy out of 400,000.

    I stand humbled, good catch!!

    Woodstock Rocks!!!

  • Hi-Ya Old Slacker...Canned Heat still rocks..now they have Dallas Hodges as front man, brother of Catfish Hodges..still out rocking it. Saw them at a little place in LA.

  • ahhhhhh. Stephen Stills. Go find him..whooohoo..to watch the beginngs of CSN, as they surprize themselves those harmonies..I am so glad to have been able to enjoy that period of time...

  • Yes, yes, yes! Plenty of love, flower power, freedom, spiritual well being, happiness, brother hood, sister hood, and of course, music,......until the food & drugs ran out. Then it's back to reality. Seriously though, what an awesome event. There will never be anything like it, again. I've got to stop watching these Woodstock videos. I keep having flashbacks! Peace!

  • Where are the FAT PEOPLE? There were no fat people at woodstock! At Lolapolooza, there were tons of fat people there. No wonder they got so many in such little area in Bethel. If woodstock happened today, the kids would have left a crater than memories. Alright I said my piece, all you fat concert goers can kill me now. ha ha. Woodstock Rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • back in the old times mothers cooked food, no micros, snacks were fruit not cookies and chips. no video games, no cable, so you had to play outside. very few pizza and fast food rest. omg-i am so old. lol

  • Kids today also dont have the freedom to go where ever they want. Now, they stay in the yard under supervision. Their lives are also more regimented and planned out. No wonder they like to bully and kill each other. They dont know what fun is. we had it lucky!

  • You are so right! I just turned 18 and I still don't feel free. Wish I was Born then

  • It is sad, childeren will never know the beauty of simplicity and nature. We ruined it for them.

  • I was only 9 when Woodstock happened, but I truly wished I was old enough to attend. I think this is what we a sorely lacking to today. The kids today have way to much structure in thier lives. Be happy and free to express yourslef without being punished for it.

  • Please - are all these comments being written by kids? I was there. Things are not much different now. The only difference is - there are more people - and more rules. Trust me kids - being a free spirit isn't all it's cracked up to be. You still have to eat and live. Most of the hippies were living off of someone else - be it their parents, friends or handouts.

  • We didn't forget the dream!

  • I hope this is our future. (from a 60's hippie) Just visualze it, and it will be!

  • i envy those who were born in the forties

  • Es increible recordar aquella epoca, hermoso , viva WOODSTOCK y viva la libertad . viva la paz.desde chile

  • R u dumb? do u think that in the 60's everyone was a hippie or something? Because there were people just like you and me everywhere.

  • Beeb1421, you couldn't have said it any better. I just finished high school and had that same realization. Teenagers now just want to be a "Hippie" so they'll act like one and put on a show, and forget how to be themselves. Thats our problem, everyone is so concerned about how others will percieve them, that they forget about their true personality. It's a damn shame that people are ruining what was beautiful.

  • what the hell is a true personality?

  • A true personality is just being yourself, and being happy that way. I think that is what many teenagers lack. They strive to be something they're not

  • @doglizarddog yup due to the media and everyone telling them they have to be like that

    i try not to conform

its good to be yourself :)

if they don't like you for that... screw um

  • @doglizarddog dude im a teenager and i can tell you the hard truth that we can not just be ourselves. there are ten times the amount of rules, laws, expectations or whatever you want to call them. we strive to be something were not because our future is based on what we strive for. the age of 14 is when this mad race for college stars.i didnt think it did when i was 14 but three years pass by and i realize that everything is looked at by the colleges that put a label on you when starting a life.

  • @MrCrazyman1221 naaa dude. I thought the same thing as you when i was in high school. I'm in college now. All you have to do is keep in touch with your inner child and understand yourself. Don't worry about the external forces. Focus on your internal, and the external will seem much more simple

  • @doglizarddog Thats how it is at my high school. they try to be "cool" and end up duplicating the majority. its sad. real sad.

  • I was only 14 years old and my parents did not allow me to go to Woodstock but I'll always remember it. I watched the documentary at least 5 times. I'm smoking a grass to toast for it !!!

  • the hippies in 69 werent wearing clothes from the 40s and doing the jitterbug.

they were enjoyin themselves and living in the moment.

kids today are wearing tie die shirts and flashing the peace sign. Instead they should be living in the moment (now)and creating their own woodstock.

30 yrs from now, kids will look back and say "our parents didn't create shit for us" they were too busy trying to re-live woodstock.

  • I bet that guy at 2:40 was a fucking cool guy to know.

  • it wasn't a "Movement" it was a Moment.

  • it was a fad and that is all.

look how quickly the "peace and love" phenomenon died out

  • ,,,and we've GOT to get ourselves back to the GARDEN!!!!!!

  • the 60s and 70s were the best generations ever before the 60s everone was too uptight and now everything sucks in the present the 90s were great for me when i was a kid now im a teen and theres nothing cool

  • The hippies are the biggest sell out generation of all time. They did make change, but they didn't maintain it, nor did they expand on it. This was the last generation that could actually do that. And now they are all money grubbing corporate executives. Such a shame to throw away all those noble ideas for money.

  • agreed, it was a great time and great philosophy and it would have been even greater if they actually believed what they preached , there were some true hippies but most were just following the trends :( its such a waste.

  • man i wish we could have another thingg like woodstock ALL WE NEED IS LOVE!!!

  • i know!

  • That dude bummin a smoke while Canned heat was performing!!

  • i'm so born in the wrong generation, fuck this decade.

  • no way, high sd rate, high jobless rate, no future, people yeah looks good right...come on

  • i know we need another youth revolution! as soon as i can im migrating to the true hippie towns, i dont care if i'm 50 years late, not gonna stop me

  • god i feel ya man

  • I agree, we need to start doin dat again. We at the end of a decade we do not want to forget.

  • Like some of that hippy bush.

  • damn hippies

  • 40 years today, it seems to be a long time gone... hey some one should use that for a song title !

  • awsome days & awsome summers seems things begin to change when John Lennon was killed in 1980

  • Canned Heat - Going Up The Country

  • gee do i wish i couldve been a teenager during these times... instead of now -_-

  • i completely agree....those times would have better suited me. looks like im not the only one born in the wrong generation!

  • YES! I just wish I could've seen the abbie hoffman incident. I would've kicked his ass. I love the who.

  • guess ure consept of love and peace is way diffrent then mine lol

  • &music

  • I AM A WOODSTOCK FAN WOOOOT

  • Oh.. Good times :)
