Some joker at a web site called "Men's Fitness" posted this as a 'kettlebell training mistake,' is what may be inviting some of the less clueful comments. This isn't training, this is competing. And at a super high level.
Funny how the spectators are saying "Davi davi..." (I know Russian) telling him to go on, while this guy just got a heavy hit on his head! What jerks.
So he took a minor bump on the head. Big deal, it happens when you ACTUALLY PUT SOME EFFORT INTO SOMETHING unlike all the spandex nike clad ppl I see at the gym, who can barely be bothered to break a sweat and talk to each other all day. Impressive goddamn work this guy did!
@mikesharkey6 Hell, it means hes go a solid head on top of being in excellent shape :D Beats me, I let my ass get lazy and gotta build back up to that.
I readed about some russian he was a military guy and it was many years ago like 50 or even more and i heard that there was a competition and he press 32 kg kettlebell for 1002 reps ! it took almost two hours i know it's unbelivable but that's true... the point is that what is 155 reps when you compare it to 1002 ??
@groza1987 its a matter of time. Mishin could certainly press a single 32kg bell 1000 times given 2 hours. VF just did 911 reps for the anniversary of 9/11. it took him 1.5 hours. this competition is limited to 10 minutes.
haha there are SO many funny comments. First of all, that is Serge Mishin, and next to Ivan Densiov, he is the best kettlebell lifter ever. most of you, yes even the ones with a 300# bench can't do one rep with those bells. seriously, and you certainly couldn't do 155 if we gave you an entire day to do it!!! you have NO IDEA how challenging this is. to give you an idea... he moved 21700 lbs in 10 min without putting the bells down. when is the last time YOU moved 10 tons of weight haha.
What is with people hating on kettlebell exercises? Those are people who CLEARLY havent ever used them properly. They make you HURT! They are excellent for all athletes as they build functional strength. I see lots of athletes training like powerlifters do, and its not the correct way to go about it. Im a basketball player and use these very effectively. Ive seen crazy results compared to just squatting and deadlifting. Mix up your workout! Kettlebells are SO effective.
@chapmasi Traditional weightlifting is Olympic lifting. That's full body.
Even if you wanted to generalize, before modern bodybuilding working out meant tons of squats, standing military press, push press, bent press, etc. Nearly everything they did worked multiple body parts, and nearly always loaded the trunk.
You should instead say that unlike modern bodybuilding, most kettlebell work hits multiple areas at once. Or, unlike slow lifting, kettlebell work tends to build explosive ability.
i dont get it- that guy did really well- 156 reps is no joke, plus the kettlebells are pretty heavy. i am lean, muscular, very athletic but i dont know if i could do that- so why on earth is this man fat?!?! he should be lean like me! or any other person who works out seriously!
people who seriously work out need to be in a caloric excess if they want to get stronger. There is a difference.. you work out for aesthetics others work out for strength.. I'm sure if he cut weight he would look "good" under your definition, but he prefers to keep getting stronger atm... if you want to get stronger you def have to "gomad" :P
HA, fool, looking good and being stronger are not mutually exclusive, in fact they usually go hand in hand. and your wrong, yes i train to look good, but i also train because i like to train and to get stronger. but if you want to be fat and ugly- thats fine by me, ill be getting all the girls!
there must have been some sort of miscommunication..lol... I never mentioned anything about killing or fighting.. just brute strength... and no navy seals do not all have toned fine visible 6 packs etc... looking good does not translate to their job... having enough nutrients and fat to keep them alive while in combat however does... no navy seal will be in active duty with super low body fat
ooh and there is no way I want to be fat, I don't think it looks good... I play sports and like to look good and be strong.. but I won't bash others for what they do
of course they have 6 packs.. anyone with a strong core does. This guy does as well, its just covered by layers of fat lol... and interesting video, I'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make sense you went on some random tangent though.
Lol, I never said that is wrong of you.. just said different people strive for different things... some for extreme strength some for appearance some or a bit of both etc... and I'm with you on fedor!
@sidhyarth there's probably less than 1 percent of all KB lifters that could equal Mishin's performance, to say nothing of the general population or even strength athletes. If that's all you learned from him, too bad.
On the Fat To Strength Ratio... Being strong does not equal lots of muscle per say. Some very skinny guys have tons of strength. The guy could have trained for srength...but only trained a few days a week and did cardio on a low scale. I myself have tons of muscle and although I have dropped fat inches, I still have fat. Lately I am upping my cardio past just KB use and finally my inches are starting to budge again. Lots of jumping rope, treadmill and of course KB Swings / snatches.
I respect this guy's strength endurance, but why is he so fat? He must be consuming quite a few calories. All that high volume work boosts your metabolism. He should be lean with a proper diet. Part of being functionally fit is NOT having a big gut. It gets in the way and lowers your strength to weight ratio, thus decreasing efficiency. Not to mention the added stress on his heart having to pump blood through all that fat. Form and function DO have some correlation in the fitness arena.
Im sure most of that is muscle, have you ever seen the worlds strongest man competitions, when you get to that type of compeition functional muscle is no longer "pretty muscle" the strongest people in the world look like fat bastards with their clothes on but they have incredible streghnth. Look at mark henry
Agreed. He's probably also been a powerlifter at one time. Most people who are really strong could care less about having defined abs or a wispy waist. The goal is strength, everything else is a distant second.
in gs it can be beneficial to have a bit of a gut. same reason they where weight lifting belts. its not for supporting there back but rather it gives their elbows a place to rest if they need it.
dumbells are fine until the arrival of the kettlebell you really need to open your mind and get with the Party. I own over half a dozen kettlebells but use two 35 pounders most of the time.
"push the weight from muscle" .... not sure your making sense there buddy thats the gto stepping in it would of happened if he had a bar bell or a dumbell just fatigue nothing to do with "pushing the weight from muscle" hahah
oh fuck i bet that hurt lol

@solar92116 I'm pretty sure after doing 155 reps you'd be jumping a little to try and move the weight around too.
