  • Those sound effects

  • NO WAY !!!! NO WAY is this the actual game and how it really goes naturally !.....is it ?!!

  • @yoe91 Yes. The navigation is all screwed up. You press the button on your joystick and it shows some other screen.

  • @Alemme01 my goodness...just watched it again. Who the fuck has fun playing this ?!! Whatever the year !

  • @yoe91 I bet the people who like this game are the ones who think no Atari game should be insulted in any way.

  • This is WORSE than ET! God it's OBNOXIOUS!!

  • @Noodles37UK I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • @BalancedSpirit79 Lol! Imagine this being hyped to buggery for some PS4 launch or something and people queing up all night for it . And then getting mugged going home.

  • Looking back I am glad I never got Superman for the 2600 as a kid. I wanted it, but never got it. I did get Spider-Man though, and that was definitely a much better game than this.

  • @108Stars Agreed. Spider-Man on the Atari is the best comic book based game on the VCS.

  • @Alemme01 But AVGN hates it though

There are games we liked and some people liked that the Nerd hates.

There's this LJN game that he ripped apart and it got good reviews on Amazon dot com

  • ARRRRRH my ears!!!! They melt!

  • 0:29 WTF???!!!???!!! :,D

  • What are you talking about? This game looks great!

    herrrrrrrrr

  • WHAT a piece of shit! it is now and it was back then!

  • everything is seizure

  • seizure alert

  • It looked like the game was having a stroke...

  • Look, for all of you youngsters who are griping about the old Atari games -- that's all we had until the technology improved. Some of these games were fun for the time and if you didn't live back in the 80's, then you have nothing to compare it to.

  • @MasterJediDude I like Atari games, just not this one.

  • @MasterJediDude nothing to campare it to? ok i guess magnavox odyssey, intellovision, collecovision, vectrex, etc dont count

  • People need to understand that games like these are what inpired video games to go forward. I played superman when i was kid when all there was is atari. Yeah Im up in age. Video Games almost turned into a faded FAD had it not been for the people loving to play them....

  • @phillipicus I see where you're coming from, but I would say Adventure was more inspirational to game developers than Superman.

  • Where did they get the sound effects from, Vietnam?

  • @m2diggs Im from vietnam ._.

  • Call of Duty Black Ops 2011 edition

  • @ajgreen: my fastest time on this game was one minute, forty eight seconds.

And to the guy who posted this: apparently you've never played E. T. for the 2600. THAT is the worst game.

  • @MasterExacerbator I never said this was the worst game. And E.T. is not even close to the worst Atari 2600 game. Just look up "10 Games Worse Than ET"

  • i played this low budget title alot back in the days , i found it amusing

  • Unplayable? No, but far too easy. Can complete this in five minutes usually.

  • 100th commenter.

    anyway nice video.

    EAR RAPE!!!

  • My eeeeeeeaaaaaarrrrrrrrsssssss!!!!!!!!

  • Mindfuck... Anyone???

  • lul the description: "watch in higher quality here..."

yeah because I only watch my Atari 2600 games in 1080p

  • My ears!!!!!!!

  • Stupid game but great sounds XD

  • What the hell is going on

  • When we list unplayable games and the like, I think we should all start with NES and later. A lot of those early games were unplayable and complete trash.

  • I think this is actually worse than ET!

  • 0:28 = (Superman?) touches enemy's pingas and the game goes in crash. LOL

  • a shit like E.T. lol

  • lmao what the fuck is happeneing!? EAR RAPE, AND CONFUSION!!

  • An easy way to beat the game in record time is by pressing the power button on your Atari.

  • Oh oh oh I loved this game. For a 2600 game it was actually fun.

  • MY BEAUTIFUL EARS! I think that I've heard better 'music' on the backwards radio station (look it up and you'll understand what I mean by 'music').

  • ok this game is shit, even for it's time, but these games were the first of their kind, they had no precedent to go by, with that in mind, I think they did a good job with what little they had

  • I found an easy cheat for this game can complete the game in 6 seconds. Basically if you press the player button on the console it pauses the game and cycles between screens. Before the bridge is blown up let it cycle to a room with an elevator move the joystick and go into the elevator you should then be able to walk to the final room and complete the game without rebuilding the bridge or catching the bad guys.

  • I beat this game in easy mode. Reading the manual off atariage dot com helped a lot. Difficult mode is next to impossible because Louis Lane is so hard to find.

  • @DeLorean4 And one more thing. You have to go to the bank once you've finished killing all of the baddies. When you do, you know you'll have won if you hear two beeps. Just two beeps after beating a shitty game.

  • @DeLorean4 3 beeps. - ' .

  • whats this caca?

  • It´s like Superman 64

  • aww! My ears! They get pooped on this!

  • Looks like a Superman version of the E.T. game that was buried in the desert.

  • WTF is this shit ?

  • Atari Superman > LSD

  • Better than Superman 64.

  • I had this on an Atari clone. And had nightmares because of this garbage.

  • I love this game's soundtrack. . .especially the song BLORT FIZZ EHHHHH. . .

You know this game was even more confusing when played during childhood because no matter how broken it was, it just HAD to be playable because adults made it. . .

  • A surrealist masterpiece.

  • I liked that game back then.

    But why is it unplayable?

For people who don't know how to play games? :-P

  • @rudiangath

was a good game, it was one of the first open world games!

  • This is actually a pretty fun game for its day. Superman has to capture Lex Luthor, the gangsters, throw them in prison, and reassemble the three pieces for the bridge that Luthor blows up. For 1979, it was fairly elaborate and involved...

  • @bruceclarkemexico Indeed. Ever since I first played this game, I've always thought of it as a spiritual successor to Adventure. A lot of the mechanics are the same, at least.

  • dnt understand it.... wat to do??

  • I just watched this with my headpones

    OOOWWW THIS IS TOO LOOUUDD!!!!

  • You ppl are retards, this game is so easy to master.

  • ERA UNA MIERDA..!!!!!!!

  • HALO eat your hat -this game has you beaten.

    XD

Maybe they should port this game to present-day consoles? :)

  • Holy Fuck! That game makes no sense whatsoever!

  • As opposed to your playable mom? Uh huh. That's right. I said it. I meant it. I'm here to represent it.

  • this is an awsome game.

  • Got to disagree with you. It is a good game. Does help if you have the manual for this game to know what you are supposed to do.

Basically a bridge is blown up, your job is to repair the bridge, capture Lex Luther and his friends and put them in prison then change into Clark Kent and walk to the Daily Planet Newspaper building in the shortest amount of time.

  • I used to play this game & beat it. Now I can't remember how it's played. lol

  • And I thought SuperMan 64 sucked.

  • I had this game...balls....at least I never purchased ET, which made this look like a masterpeice. The 2600 is *not* a fond memory for me. It was the largest collection of terrible and buggy games ever made.

  • It makes no sense? What is going on? Why is everything flickering? What do I do? Argh!

  • best super man game EVAR!

  • My how time flies, can't believe it's been over 30 years since this game came out. If there was a lesson to be learned during those 30 years, it's that Superman just doesn't translate very well to video games. Superman 64 is another good example.

  • ...And they wondered why so many of my generation started popping pills!

  • WTF?

  • Trippy.

  • owowow my ears...

  • Unplayable because you can't figure it out? I beat this game when I was 8. You reassemble the bridge, capture all the crook, and take on Lex Lethor after everything else is done.

Avoid the kryptonite, or you lose your super flight. Find Lois to regain lost power. And beat the game as fast as you can.

  • my mind i cant even tywwpe riwhtf djgfhuuuuuu.....

  • I loved this game!

  • Maybe you should try playing it with your hands next time.

  • lol

  • @Alemme01 lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Alemme01 lol!

  • I had this as a kid. Always used to get lost. It kind of fascinated me tho.

  • Glitches galore! Bad Game!

  • HAHAHA!

  • Haha funny thing is. I got this game for 3.99 and I was like wow what a steal! When I played it It was terrible so I told the guy I got ripped off and he gave me E.T for the atari aswell!!

    ....joy...

  • So this is why people get some epileptic attacks back then...

  • Even as a big fan of retro gaming, I gotta say, Atari 2600 had really few "good" games

  • Now that's what I call a bad game!

  • All those strange noises just freaked out my cat!

    I'm not even joking!

  • can u believe we thought this was good 40 years ago

  • lol yeah never the less this game still sucks

  • that video made me laugh hard enough to get it a favorite

  • I remember trying to play this game a few years ago, all the thing did was make me confused because I hadn't a clue on what to do and give me a headache from those noises

  • Superman is so stupid on the atari! Was it something in their water?

  • It looks hilariously bad.

  • 0:37 - 0:42 WTF is happening

  • Some games were a hit or miss on atari... and sadly, this one was a miss...

  • omg the sound are fucking horrible!! i think those earkilling sounds are made for a weapon

  • This game is better than the N64 version!

  • Try Dracula Ressurection for the ps1 now thats the worst game ever made

  • Why is that? Chances are, I won't do it since I don't have a capture card...yet.

  • Its a very boring point and click game for the psone

  • After seeing the intro, it seems like something SpoonyOne would review.

  • I was about 4 yrs old when my parents bought this for me in 1980. Even then I didn't know what was going on! I thought I made up or dreamed this game all this time since then. Obviously it is real! I actually owned this fucker!!

  • ah another master piece!

  • This is easily one of the best atari games ever

  • that sounds....ughhh

  • This was one of the easiest atari games to beat ever.

  • yup :P

  • You clearly don't know how to play this game and you don't know what you're even talking about.

This is easily one of the 10 best games on the 2600.

  • Agreed. God, the game was released in 1978! This one made the other Atari games pale by comparison (and I bet many of the haters bashing this weren't even born yet).

Don't get me wrong, I respect everybody's opinion but people should consider the time period and the technology available back then before calling a game 'bad' or 'unplayable'. The manual explained the plot and the items in the game and it was fun to play (that besides being the first video game based on a comic book character).

  • "Unplayable Games" is a term for games that are bad. Hardly any of them are actually unplayable. But I can't really blame you for thinking so, I've only said it on my playlist description.

  • RatedJpG,

The only reason I'd say this game sucks is there doesn't seem to be a point to it or anything to it.

Yes, a lot of atari games were as AVGN would put it 'fucking horrible.' But at least most were clear about the point and what to do.

E.T. is probably the highest rated game for epic failure, but at least you knew the point of it. Also, it was rushed, they were given 1 or 2 weeks to complete it and make 5 million copies. So go figure, it bombed.

  • Comment removed

  • It kind of had a plot, did you see that thing that blew up in the beginning? That was a bridge, and you had to find the pieces and put it back together.

  • what the hell did I just watch O_o

  • Who knows, it was on Wikipedia, the most "trustworthy" source of information on the Internet.

Regarding the sound effects, it's Atari. Nearly every game has sound effects like that.

  • God, that game's really awful. I can't believe that game appeared in the TV Boy I used to have (TV Boy was a clone of the Atari 2600).

Besides, Superman 64 is just as bad as this.

  • Just to make it even worse, there's a rumor that there's a glitch that makes you beat the game as soon as you start the game!

  • Really?

And forgot to mention, those sounds heard in the game sounds like a really nasty glitch :P
