A brand new set of carbons SHOULD run for around an hour - ie 6000' - if used continuously. However, if you're running 2000' changeovers, you're lucky to get 5000' out of them, due to switching off and re-striking between reels. When I worked in a cinema in the early 1970's, we used to reckon to get 2 full reels plus the ads and trailers from one set of carbons.
Its funny how we say (the old days)? Id sooner call them the younger days as the time were in now is old. Wow hes been there of 50 years wow. Wow no 70mm mag, only optical 35mm, what no Dolby SR-D? What was the rate of time for carbon arc light? I know they dont last long, never worked around one, only Xenon.
