That's an adorable kid and a very sad story, but I'm a little surprised at the public response. I thought that the same people who hand raise horses are usually the ones who also hand raise livestock which are killed and consumed. I don't understand how it can be so wrong for a horse to be killed while it's perfectly fine for cattle to be butchered and eaten. I don't get the rational behind this. Either way, I feel just terrible for this kid.

You don't form a bond with cattle and stock meant to go for food consumption. Most you know is a prticular that is attached to you, then they go. Horses stay with their owners, like this one had, from birth to death. And the whole point of the killing was that it was a vengeful death, just like somebody coming to gun down your dog or cat or even your pet cow.
