@AJ12AY I'm quite certain that mode CoD players have no idea what the framerate on their game is (it's not like it's stable a lot of the time anyway. Also, 60fps has been a standard for a couple of genres since they began (like fighters and shmups). Star Fox was a rarity since it had a 3-D engine, so of course is choked on its graphics hard, so it had absolutely terrible framerates (Although in emulators you can put it to 60fps with a proper computer, but then the game's unplayably fast).

@grayboy964 The game was probably 95% done when it was canceled. A few people on the internet actually went in and did the last 5% of work after the ROM was released and fixed stuff like Corneria never taking damage by missiles and some floors would disappear, and they removed the framerate counter. Basically, you can find ROMs of the game that are pretty much what the game would have been at retail.
@TheGreatReptar so if i were to download this rom it would play fine and i wont have this weird feeling and feel like a real game (when acsessing betas or cancelled games i have a weird anxious feeling cause im not supposed to be were i am and just like playing the product)
@grayboy964 If you can find the patched version, then it won't have any beta-feeling to it. The rom I originally played in the video had a couple of graphical oddities, but played just fine.
Pretty much the only thing Nintendo had left to do was bug test the game, so outside of a few glitches, the game's just as it would have been on consoles I'd assume.

@grayboy964 The FX chip was just a chip inside the cartridge that helped with all the 3-D rendering the game had to do. The SNES had a lot of weird chips that were put inside cartridges for various reasons. The FX chip in Star Fox was one of them, and I believe Megaman X3 had one to help with weather effects.

this is the 1st time i've seen this game and as soon as i saw it i instantly knew that command was the updated version of this game and yeah they both have shit graphics (considering SF2 came out in the 90's so back then these graphics were good) SFC had the same graphics even though it came out in 2009 but they're both amazing

Textured polygons, high framerate... This looks an awful lot like early playstation quality graphics. The SNES should never have been able to achieve this.

I've tried googling this game over and over again, but I the only downloads I can find that don't require a credit card are for PC! I need one for MAC! Can someone help me find one for mac that DOESN'T require a credit card or signing up for anything?
The game isn't for Mac or PC. It's an SNES ROM file. Google "star fox 2 rom english" click the first result and download "StarFox2Final.zip". Play the ROM using an SNES emulator for Mac. I play it on ZSNES v1.51. I know ZSNES has a Mac version, but it's not the latest build of ZSNES so I don't know if it will play. If it doesn't find an emulator that will.
they should really remake the first generation SF series into a more modern version. I would love to see this upgraded into a wii or future nintendo console with better graphics. IMO Star Fox Adventures lacked the intensity that the SNES & N64 provided.
I've played the more recent starfox command and I gotta say that Starfox 2 looks way more fun. One of the strangest mysteries is why anyone feels the need to take the starfox franchise into strange directions. Starfox SNES and 64 were far and away the best of the series, yet there's no attempt to follow their formulas.
What's sadder is that Starfox Command plays like a dumbed down version of Starfox 2. All-range mode from starfox 64 was fun for boss fights, but if you just populate the arena with normal enemies and make that the entire game it gets really old.
Then they add missions where you just fly through rings. Flying through rings was fun when 3D first appeared in video games, but now it just shows a lack of effort.
@FkeidcDmn Command was garbage too me. It wasn't fun, save for a few levels. But the game was just not much fun, and I just played Star Fox 64 on the VC, and Star Fox on the SNES. Yeah, you know you have a failure of a game when I start playing Star Fox on the SNES.
I really hope Star Fox 64 3D does well. Miyamoto said he would make a brand new Star Fox if it does. If not well.... we can say goodbye to one of the best Nintendo icons to sum it up. I didn't like command because it put to much stress on the team and Fox and Krystal. The gameplay was fine but the story made me sad seeing Fox suffer these awful fates. I really hope they just disregard Command in the time line or use a good ending when and if they make the next one.

The Peppy part really isn't true. He was still on the team except in Adventures. Krystal doesn't even share the same sort of position Peppy does in the team. No reason Peppy can stay on the team too. Also I never got the idea that Krystal made Fox soft. In Assault he was courageous, had a strong sense of leadership, and a powerful will. Command messed that all up with making Krystal act like a well... bitch and Fox a wimp.
Well Assault takes place 9 years after 64. Making Peppy 49 and plus fighting in space doesn't make ya age any slower. I thought he was awesome in Assault even though he didn't have much in combat time except in cut scenes and v.s mode. Yes but Krystal is more kind and supportive in Assault and Fox was more courageous and Independent while they both still showed feelings for each other. Command should just be remembered as a what if game and not have a place in the time line.
The only reason this was never released cause nintendo said it was too close to the release of the nintendo 64 but donkey kong country 3 was released in 1996

Because I am simply AMAZED at what I just saw. I could never imagine the SFX chip being able to pull off free-roaming 3D environments like this and with such smoothness and fluidity. Although one thing is Starfox2 running on a regular SNES and Starfox2 running on an emulator, and I am aware that Starfox is faster on an emulator than on the SNES, so probably the emulator is making it appear faster than it really is.

I've tried googling this game over and over again, but I the only downloads I can find that don't require a credit card are for PC! I need one for MAC! Can someone help me find one for mac that DOESN'T require a credit card or signing up for anything?

The game isn't for Mac or PC. It's an SNES ROM file. Google "star fox 2 rom english" click the first result and download "StarFox2Final.zip". Play the ROM using an SNES emulator for Mac. I play it on ZSNES v1.51. I know ZSNES has a Mac version, but it's not the latest build of ZSNES so I don't know if it will play. If it doesn't find an emulator that will.

they should really remake the first generation SF series into a more modern version. I would love to see this upgraded into a wii or future nintendo console with better graphics. IMO Star Fox Adventures lacked the intensity that the SNES & N64 provided.

I've played the more recent starfox command and I gotta say that Starfox 2 looks way more fun. One of the strangest mysteries is why anyone feels the need to take the starfox franchise into strange directions. Starfox SNES and 64 were far and away the best of the series, yet there's no attempt to follow their formulas.

What's sadder is that Starfox Command plays like a dumbed down version of Starfox 2. All-range mode from starfox 64 was fun for boss fights, but if you just populate the arena with normal enemies and make that the entire game it gets really old.
Then they add missions where you just fly through rings. Flying through rings was fun when 3D first appeared in video games, but now it just shows a lack of effort.

@FkeidcDmn Command was garbage too me. It wasn't fun, save for a few levels. But the game was just not much fun, and I just played Star Fox 64 on the VC, and Star Fox on the SNES. Yeah, you know you have a failure of a game when I start playing Star Fox on the SNES.

I really hope Star Fox 64 3D does well. Miyamoto said he would make a brand new Star Fox if it does. If not well.... we can say goodbye to one of the best Nintendo icons to sum it up. I didn't like command because it put to much stress on the team and Fox and Krystal. The gameplay was fine but the story made me sad seeing Fox suffer these awful fates. I really hope they just disregard Command in the time line or use a good ending when and if they make the next one.

The Peppy part really isn't true. He was still on the team except in Adventures. Krystal doesn't even share the same sort of position Peppy does in the team. No reason Peppy can stay on the team too. Also I never got the idea that Krystal made Fox soft. In Assault he was courageous, had a strong sense of leadership, and a powerful will. Command messed that all up with making Krystal act like a well... bitch and Fox a wimp.

Well Assault takes place 9 years after 64. Making Peppy 49 and plus fighting in space doesn't make ya age any slower. I thought he was awesome in Assault even though he didn't have much in combat time except in cut scenes and v.s mode. Yes but Krystal is more kind and supportive in Assault and Fox was more courageous and Independent while they both still showed feelings for each other. Command should just be remembered as a what if game and not have a place in the time line.

Is this for SNES? (I mean, I know it IS, or actually, WAS GOING TO BE for SNES)
Because I am simply AMAZED at what I just saw. I could never imagine the SFX chip being able to pull off free-roaming 3D environments like this and with such smoothness and fluidity. Although one thing is Starfox2 running on a regular SNES and Starfox2 running on an emulator, and I am aware that Starfox is faster on an emulator than on the SNES, so probably the emulator is making it appear faster than it really is.
