just ran Boston Marathon on Monday. Great weather great fun. I must say this video rings loud and true, for the next day (tuesday) I was just like the people in the video. The one lady crossing the street and trying to flag down the bus ring especially true. Good to know I'm not the only hobbled one.
Yeah only problem is.. That recent studies show that your heart doesn't love you either.. - After a marathon you are to take off 2-3 weeks of training not doing "max"-pulse training.. Because a marathon is such an achievement, but also such a preassure.. ALSO for your heart.. - Unfortunately.. :(!
lol, this is how i was after my first ... as i was walking into work the next day someone thought i had just been mugged and offered to call the police..lol.. after a few marathons your recovery time is significantly improved; eg, i dont feel like this afterwards anymore (ive done 6)
Now that's funny. I haven't run a marathon before, but I've been sore to the point where I have needed to psyche myself up just to stand up from the toilet.
lmao. i luv this vid. when we did the 07 la marathon. the next morning we went to eat breakfast in a hotel the my sis got up to leave and fell but she grapped the chair to the table next to ours. it was so funny. . . lol
Absolutely brilliant!!!!! I've run 25 marathons over the last 23 years and with each year I am stiffer and slower on the Monday! And the ending with the fellow with the bloody nipples - that would be my second marathon. I've got to send this clip to a few marathoning friends. Way to go for the folk that put this together :-)
I thought I was the only one with sore legs, because I never train for the marathon. I also like the shot of the man looking up the steps, but walking DOWN steps is the difficult part for me, after a marathon
So...the last four miles of my first marathon, this video was all I could think of! I'd spent five months training myself to think inspirational things when the going got tough, but I swear my greatest inspiration was this video. I thought to myself: if I just make it to the finish line, I can be one of the proud street-shufflers tomorrow! It's funny how the human mind works... :)
I watched this video the night before I ran my first marathon in Richmond, VA, because a friend sent me a link. Then when I got to mile 22 the next day, it was all I could think of! I had prepared all sorts of inspirational "messages" for myself to get through the final 5 miles, but this video was the only thing I could think of - LOL! I decided that if I quit the race, I wouldn't have the right to limp around like all the cool people in London, and I kept going. ;)
Ha, I was just like that woman crossing the street with the cars waiting. I was trying so hard to walk across the intersection as fast as I could be just couldn't!
Brilliant! I took the Monday off work and tried to walk to town and the woman walking gingerly down hill reminded me so much of my struggle to get there and back - 45 minutes for what is usually a 10 minute stroll! Every so often one of my legs would give way!!
Actually, your heart hates you too. In an analysis of 80 healthy runners, researchers at several Boston medical centers discovered a temporary increase in clotting and inflammatory factors that "loads and cocks the gun" for a heart attack, which could occur if a cardiac complication were to arise. The report was published in the American Journal of Cardiology.
Nice one! Very funny indeed. But why the bloody nips at the end?
bawalpirata 11 months ago 3
@bawalpirata The shirt rubbing against them. They actually make a product called nip guards. I use duck-tape.

Had to see it a few times before realising the guy at the very end of the clip in front of the computer had bloodstained nipples. Ouch!
angeloferraro 2 years ago
For the guys - a drop of super glue on the tip of each nipple works like a charm. They come off in about 2 days, or just use super glue remover.
