well Chris still does really well in europe these days and alan still plays and terry is in the current smokie and pete well he's loving life.... I remember them in Oz as a teenager watching countdown they recorded their album out here i thought it was the "other side of the road" but i could be wrong i'm sure someone will have the right answer to that anyway.... thanks for this video takes me back... its great.... always the cheeky one chris....

Strange that Smokie weren't as popular in the UK as elsewhere. They were big in South Africa with a string of top-5 hits. This one didn't chart very high but I seem to remember it being all over the radio in Cape Town back in '77.

That's true - I came to Germany in the mid-70s, and Smokie were really big over here. But I'd never heard of them in Britain. There were quite a few other singers and groups who fell into that category, apparently having much more success here than in their home country.
