I share your grief. My uncle fought with Australain soldiers in VN, and he died in VN. For a long time we believed he was fighting for freedom and democracy. Later this turned out to be a lie. He died for US strategic interests, and a courrupt and greedy Southern government. Too many died on both sides in this stupid war. Today VN is the most beautiful country I have visited.

My grandpa has a red cap, so I don't think he is a medic. He was in "mu do" something. Ok strapwitham4a1, our grandpas already draw us closer together. However, I still don't understand one of your points. To me, a traitor is one who is willing to hurt his nation for his own good. The freedom fighters don't gain anything, but hardships, for fighting the communist government. What they do MAY not benefit you and some others, but I don't think "traitors" should be their titles.

Oh Analyst24 I know how you feel, I had a grandpa, who fought for the South too and died when he was twenty six years of age, way before I even get to meet him. Even though he's a Southern soldier, I still love him and look upon him as my grandpa, not my enemy. He was a medic and at this one battle, his captain got shot and when he was helping his captain with the wound, my grandpa got shot and killed, the captain live.

I left Vietnam so I can come here to study on how bad the way of Democratic is running so when I come back to Vietnam, I can tell them that Democratic way of life is like hell. By the way, I believe that in a war, both sides have their own tricks, yet both sides do have heroes. That soldier is a hero because he believes in what he does and is willing to die for it. So do many other Northern and Southern soldiers. They all must be respected. I do have a picture of my grandpa, who was a Southern soldier, hugging his yellow flag. May you hate that flag, but to me a soldier + a flag = respectable.

However, when we approach the upper area, we need an innovative and clean government to lead the way if we ever want to keep up. Political parties have the function of a political check. If we have more than one parties, all the parties will be motivated to do their best in order to win the population's favor.

In 2006 Vietnam was the second fastest growth rate among countries in East Asia and the fastest in Southeast Asia with the unemployment rate of 2%, you guys still call that lack of growing because of Communism? If you want the proof of the Khmer Rouge attacked An Giang and killed innocent people, come there and visist that part of city, you'll see the collection of skulls of those victims.

This song is beautiful and one of the most beautiful sceen is at 1:24 when that NVA soldier kneel down and kiss or hug that flag, it shows that he had the pride of fighting for freedom for his country. I don't see the ARVN do something like that, has their soldiers kneel down and hug or kiss the flag.
