Can anyone remember a trade test cartoon film about modern communications?. The only part I can remember is where a man comes out of his bath to answer the phone only to find it's a wrong number, and the announcer saying 'if they have dialled it correctly' I was about 1971-2 bbc2?
long before the "all day TV" from pre breakfast onwards The BBC used to show "strange liitle films" between/around TV for schools, This was one of them!
From the era of Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Cooper S's and mini skirts.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO CREDITS!! Love the soundtrack; thought I might find out who wrote the music. Oh well; atleast it's here. Youtuube can also be a way for a man to keep his happy memories of who he is; nobody can stick memories in a rubbish bin to make way for new and make a huge rubbish landfill mountain to destroy the planet. Who would do such a stupid thing?
Being ill at the time meant a chance to watch all these trade test transmissions. I always wanted Dad to get a colour TV so I could have a play with the "hidden controls". We didn't actually get one until MUCH later.
We visited Evoluon in 1969. Fascinating place. I couldn't get the exercise bikes to run the telly - I was only 8!
I watched this many times as I did the other trade test transmissions. love it. Does anyone remember A Flight of Fancy, a promo for B.O.A.C. as I remember _ I would like to see that again. This is late 60's I'm sure.
I remember this distinctly from when I was just 11 years old. It brings the memories flooding back, however this is the first time that I've seen this in colour.
Same as BlackmoonUK. I used to watch this over and over again as a kid -- but only in black and white as we didn't get a colour TV until right after they stopped showing it in 1973!
The music for the movie was written by Jaap Hofland and vocalized by him, together with his singing group "The Moonliners". The members of this group were Henk de Jong, Jan Beishuys(z)en, Leen Dijkkamp, Jaap Hofland en Trijntje (Tine) Hofland-Hoorn. Letty de Jong also sings in the film.
Thanks for this information. Sorry I took so long to get back to you.
I managed to download the film from another site & then extract the soundtrack, but I would be interested to trace some proper recordings by these artists. I will commence "Googling" soon!! Once again, many thanks for these leads.
Anyone know anything about the soundtrack?I know that ist probably a 60s library album, and Roger roger did some of the querky music, but Im after the more vocal music and the jazz breaks.
Ah, the memories! I was in the TV trade when this was broadcast as a trade test transmission. In those days installing a new colour TV meant delivering it to the customer's house then spending upwards of two hours converging the colours. The engineer needed a static test card to do this and if this film or another trade test transmission was being broadcast then we had to sit and drink tea until it ended!
Same as BlackmoonUK, I watched this very good film back in the early '70s along with other "Trade Test Transmissions" films that were being shown on the new colour TV's. Also I visited the Evoluon exhibition in 1973. Great pity it's now closed.
Same as BlackmoonUK. Used to be on after Play School as a Trade Test Transmission. I have been looking for this for years. Best bit was the frog - I am a frog but for me Galvaldi would be nowhere! Brilliant
I want to thank you for uploading this... I used to watch it on BBC in the UK when I was a wee nipper, I must have been about 5 or 6. I'm 40 now and this is the first time I have seen it since. I'm not sure what it did to the memory section of my brain, but it did something. I seem to remember the music being 'The Age Of Aquarius'. Obviously it isn't, but it's a bit similar. I'm off to watch part 2 now.
This is a very "dry" video. =p

Das Evoluon war einfach phantastisch. Ich war dort im Jahre 1977 und total begeistert. Schade, dass es so etwas nicht mehr gibt.

Brilliant! I remember seeing this building on TV when I was a toddler, there was a model human showing all the veins, looked amazing.

Amazing.
I never thought I'd see this again. "Coffee... coffee... coffee" and the ball in liquid nitrogen were always my favourite bits.
Takes you back.
Many thanks buddy

Surely this music was released on vinyl in the 60s. Anyone know anything?

Do you know of any other trade test transmissions that I can view such as "The Choice" which was an I.C.I. promotional film.
Thanks.
