I am. considering music involves instruments, and the vocals isn't and instrument (hence why there aren't vocals present in INSTRUMENTAL records, Music needs a way to evoke emotion and feeling. this cover hasn't been done because they know about the feelings Anthony was going through when he wrote it, they did it because it "sounds cool", and for the money. And that's not what music is.
any art piece can be classed as good. but music is different.
if I played a basic c chord on the piano for 2 hours straight, would that be contempory? would it be modern and abstract?. no. it would be a poor performance. much like pop singers of today. they are only skilled at making money and sponging off other peoples talents / the idiot nation.
as much as the original is a hell of a lot better than this, i just have to say there was once a composer who wrote a song which was just silence. It was John Cage and the song was called 4'33", and he is now a well known composer. but as i feel with most modern art, it is a load of shit that doesnt deserve to be called art, as with most pop songs.

Much better than the original. More imaginitive use of what is rather a bland song. Good production. Interesting rhythm and bass. Doesn't sound like a normal pop song, especially at a time when pop was still quite 'plastic'. Fair enough if you prefer the original but only if you generally prefer the bland version and not because you have a grudge against girl bands/pop music/music of black origin.
Oh yeah - the girls aren't particularly talented musicians. What I like is the production and arrangements. I think the verses sound unusual - the bassline with that melody is more interesting that the original plus that spinny noise in the background sounds ususual . I don't like the scratching and the "one time two time" bit but then this was the nineties and they thought it sounded 'edgy'...
but under the bridge from peppers it's not a happy song. its something from anthony's life.this cover ruined all the feelings that someone has from the original version.
