I saw her live this evening in a concert at Pécs, Hungary. She sung also this aria. The concert was beautiful, although she is over her prime.

Tokody est vraiment une grande chanteuse. Sa ligne sur la fin de l'air au moment de "O Dio...vorrei morir" est tout simplement à tomber par terre!!!!! J'aime vraiment beaucoup cette artiste. Son Manon de Puccini est magique également.

Um, I've heard older MEN sing this and make people cry. I have no idea why anyone is complaining that this singer isn't young. Opera singers dont mature until thier 30s anyway so likely a relatively older woman was singing and performing the part in the first place. She did a lovely job.

her top notes are screechy. and a tad sharp, I might add. Sorry, she does nothing for me......in this aria. Others maybe, but not this one.

That's ridiculous... Many opera characters are very young. I'd like to see a young girl sing Salome or Cio-Cio San, both 15 years old. Tokody embodies youth, just by her singing. This is opera, not MTV.

The theater is not the real life and the opera needs to have perfect singers, a teen-ager never would sing as a singer professional with years of study.
