Those men crossing the river, theyre the 7th Michigan. This is a highly fictionalized part. In the battle the regiment didnt suffer so many casualties. They cleared the rivers bank, and the town with a small amount of casualties and dished out more rebel dead than the rebels did to them! This was probably one of the greatest feats in the world. What they did was copied on D-day and the pacific. And remember, the men who perfected amphibious landings were from Michigan!
We would have won that war if Lee had simply led a spearhead attack straight into Maryland and laid siege to Washington until the yankees surrendered. It would have been over without all the senseless bloodshed and we would have a perfect nation. If i live to see the day that America has another War Between the States I will gladly offer my allegiance to my homeland of the South.
@B1gO Or if the South had won at Shiloh then the victories won by Grant and Sherman in the west in 1862 and 1863 would not have happened. It would have taken time for the North to put a new army into place. It would have been commanded by less talented officers than Grant and Sherman. Then Vicksburg would have never been captured and Atlanta would have never been taken.
@B1gO Yeah, since im half pacific islander, I got warrior blood in me. And my white side, it is a side of proud history of service to the great USA in many of its wars. I have an ancestor who served in the 24th Michigan during the souths rebellion, and recently a grandfather and uncle in the korean and vietnam wars.
most folks think this is a war of emancipation, but it never started that way, in fact Lincoln didn't care about slavery in the first two years it was about succession. I am a Yank through and through, but I would gladly stand beside Johnny Reb today to put our government in place, like the South tried in 1861-1865
This is truly what we were fighting, invading pillaging thieves, no honer whatsoever. For we never sent our army to tyranize the people of northern states. I am very proud to see the actualization of why we were fighting......God Speed......
@dguynn24 absolutely disgusting what war does to a man and a nation. God save the noble sides of our great nation. let us all be thankful that this only happened once.

@bh5496 It will happen twice if the wrong president keeps getting elected.
Obama for example.
