  • sounds like a kickass keygen tune

  • Funny... I thought most of the license stuff is horrible. The music in this game certainly isn't. Can't judge a book by its cover, I guess.

  • I fuckin love Asterix, I'm 25 & still have all the books, fuck selling them, I'm guna read them to my future kids- Obilix: "Hunt those bore Dogmatix, I'm hungry as a mother fucker"

  • Not exactly what I'd expect from the world's largest empire's theme.

I mean, it sounds good. For like a beach level or something. But this is Rome, Rome deserves some badass battle march or some Kirk vs. Spock gladiator fight to the death thing.

  • @cheesepower5 This is Asterix Rome. They're the butt monkeys of the series.

  • Never played this game before, never heard this song before; already love it

  • This reminds me of a credits theme... i like it

  • This song is just pure awesomenessezzzzzeesx

  • Dude you even got Asterix. Wow this game was good enough for me and yeah, I remember this song.

  • So catchy!

  • The version here is a step too high and a step too fast. The credits theme, however, is at the correct pitch and speed.

  • First time I hear that theme but I already like it! Surprisingly, this game was made by Infogrames.

  • If I'm not mistaken!

  • This kicks buttix!

  • lol, well said!

  • I actually love that sound. It reminds me of my Atari ST, which used it to excess. :P This track's really good, as was VGM 219, are there any other gems in this game?

  • Well there's also Egypt's theme that I really like! :P

  • I guess we'll be looking forward to that one later then :P

  • lol the guy on the title scrren looks a like luigi if he was a viking XD

  • just to make sure you know. that guy on the title is Asterix! ;)

  • Thanks, Captain Obvious!

  • hmm.. my mistake, I wanted to post my comment as a reply to nintendork1's comment.. here it doesn't seem to make that much sense ^^

  • It's my mistake then.

  • And I was so certain it was Luigi after some hair dye and a new hat!

  • Suc long music tracks for a game with short levels.

  • Wow, this music has my most hated NES musical effect: that rubbery 8 bit reverbing sound. It sounds like somebody is beating a rubber band with another rubber band.

  • Haha, that's what I like to call the "MC Kids" effect, since that was the first game I played that used it. It's definitely special but I quite like it! Just another NES instrument for me. :P

  • I thought I was the only one who hated that arpeggio effect. Maybe because I always associate it to LJN and they made terrible games. Effect aside, this tune is pretty cool.

  • Eh, I just hate the technique. Never played an LJN game.

  • There was some really crappy game that used it but had amazing music....

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on the NES. The Taito one, not the Ubisoft one. That game may be one of the worst games ever made, but had some of the best music on an 8-bit system.

  • I think the NES Micro Machines game used that rubbery music effect, too. It was the opposite of Indiana Jones -- great game with some really irritating music.

  • @SupraDarky @VGKing

Another game that makes heavy use of that effect in it's soundtracks is Dizzy for the NES. Every track has that noise in it..

  • @VGKing You mean the "SID chip chords"? I'll have to disagree, that sound, to me, IS old timey gaming in musical form.

  • cooool

  • Groovy
