If that animal was injured in anyway, then it's animal cruelty. There are just as many cats as squirrels, does that mean we can get away with hurting them? Nuuu.

Tree squirrels are not pest. Chipmunks are. Chipmunks do damage to your house. They gnaw your mortat to get in your crawl space to nest. Squirrels will never enter your house unlike raccoons or opossums. And no. You should never be mean to an animal. If you want it gone, buy a humane trap and relocate the animal at least 15 miles away if you don`t wish for it`s return.
Dogs are more valued than squirrels though, It would be anomalous 4 some one to be concerned about a squirrel because nobody has an emotional connection to it, on the other hand, people have emotional connections with dogs

Why would you favor birds over squirrels? I mean, if wildlife are pest to you, don`t feed any. Yeah. I draw the line at possums and coons but the little rockey`s are rather harmless and aren`t too intrusive. Yeah, they burry corn all over your Scotts lawn but that`s the extent of their menace. Chipmunks do more damage and are totaly cute. Leave the tree sqirrels alone.

1. I bought bird food to attract different kinds of birds, who are more pleasing to look at than squirrels.
2. The squirrels eat more bird food than the birds, and they make a mess doing it.
3. The squirrels scare off the birds.
Also, the birds don't chew through my siding and make nests in my attic out of my insulation.
