  • Your tone kinda reminds me of Stanley Turrentine! Awesome job!

  • you have such a nice fat sound! some of the altissimo is a little off but it sounds great. i could listen to this all day :) and i think ill have to buy this book because i love shuffle blues and can never find a good recording. well it sounds really good, keep it up!

  • jo

  • dude... we have the same sax :D you should tell me what altissimo fingerings you used that worked for you, i can figure anything out haha

  • this jam is so sick i think i'm gonna need a doctor!

  • I almost got that same sax, beautiful sax, it was a jaw dropper, cannonball is an amazing sax company, good job on them blues man!

  • Do you know were I could get books to learn blues on the sax

  • I'm sure you probably know Willis Jackson's playing - if not, please run, do not walk, to get some of his stuff. Willis Jackson with Pat Martino "Gravy". Your playing here reminded me of him. Absolutely funky and swinging, tremendous tone. I have lived this sound all my life. Bravo!

  • @Gminor7 actually I have not checked out Willis Jackson, but he is now on my list. Thanks for the lead, always looking for funky stuff to listen to. Thanks for listening!

  • That's sounds SAWEET !!

  • The sax he's probably using is a Cannonball big bell stone series, it comes with an extra neck,"the one he's using in this video" produces a "Fat" sound

  • @danielantoniozd26 It is a Cannonball Stone Series "Raven" horn, without the fat neck, I picked it up just before they released the fat necks unfortunately. Still a good horn/neck though.

  • @subarashiime Cool i didn't know that, thank you. Still sounds great, keep it up :)

  • great song!! :)

  • juss keep em comin smooth man

  • Mabye try a jazz mouthpiece that made my sound alot richer and brighter

  • @Pouncerismycat My mpc is a Yanagisawa 7 that was worked on by John Riley, it is indeed a jazz mouthpiece

  • This video is a favorite on Yaounde

  • listen to this atleast once a month. so good, did you make this BT yourself

  • @porge97 Thanks for listening, the BT is Jamey Aebersold, from the Blues with B-3, I can't remember the volume as of now, but you can easily find it at jazzbooks(dot)com

  • i have a question - is it hard to learn to play like this ?

  • @roberc1abc hard? perhaps, more like it takes practice, which is a life long pursuit

  • is it a cannonball?

  • how do you get that kind of sound out of a tenor?

  • @NikicMx12 im not sure but most of the time when i record the sound of my tenor it sounds different when you replay it :/

  • You are right on...Great playing, fantastic tone...Music played like this is why i visit youtube a lot...Great job!!!

  • how do you get that nice solid tone in the higher register?

  • Great Talent. Enjoyed every note!!!!!

  • Fantastic. How do you produce that cool vibrato?

  • I am a tenor player myself. You are freaking amazing! I piddle a bit at a local cafe, do you play public as well?

  • Love it. Keep going.

  • good shit my friend

    keep it up

  • I AM JEALOUS!

  • Amazing stuff. One helpful tip to take away from this is notice how when he was playing his fingers stayed on the keys at all times. This will make it much easier to play faster

  • Amazing. Nuff said

  • Also what Tenor Saxdo you own 'cause I've been wanting to buy on ejust like yours. You don't sell yours do you? jk

  • All I can say is DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you improvise this? If not CAN I HAVE THE LINK TO THE MUSIC SHEET. I SO WANT TO PLAY IT FOR MY NEXT CONCERT. :) PRETTY PLEASE WITH CHERRIES ON TOP!:)

  • makes me think i'm in a fancy restaurant :D

  • That note at 0:44 YES, YES, YES!! I'm going to say that was an Altissimo note. AMAZING! I just can't get the hang of altissimo... It's starting to bug me. I LOVE Eric Marienthal's Altissimo...

  • Those dislikes had to either 2 year olds, mentally challenged people, or accidental button hits...

  • That sounds nice. Nice tone.

  • Awesome chops, tone, technique!!! You just need to practice a tiny bit more on the altissimo range. Other than that, this video was perfect!

  • Amazing sound that you are producing! i love the look of he sax too:)

  • this inspired me to play the tenor sax.

  • holy cow... that was awesome, and in g too!

  • just one question dude What's your mouthpiece setup? come on just nswers that

  • on your high C buddy, just flip off the crowd w/ your left (just your b and g fingers w/o the A finger. I owned a cannonball, and that worked best for me. . great sound buddy. also the b finger and the f finger on r hand works great . .or just the b finger .. . leave that side key alone on the side unless you want to really go high .. . the notes are lots harder to control in lower altisimo reg.

  • on your high C buddy, just flip off the crowd w/ your left (just your b and g fingers w/o the A finger. I owned a cannonball, and that worked best for me. . great sound buddy.

  • What note does he play at 0:34 ?!

  • @cutepitbulllover it's the 7th of the blues scale... on tenor sax (what I play), it's altissimo G

  • Great :) did you see my blues? :)

  • beast, keep it up man...

  • amazing! absolutely love your sound! can you tell me your setup?

  • You juste need a bass playing with so it becomes awesomly epic !

    Wonderful !

  • I'm in 8th grade and music is my life, this made my night!!!!!!

  • dude this is the best blues solo. do you have a sheet music for this?

  • Man that is amazing, you made my day :)

  • Nice swing !

  • How did you play the note at 0:45?

  • 03.30 to 4.00. buoy

  • Sounds pretty good. Are you playing a Taiwanese horn? Im a pro sax player and I only play Taiwanese axes. If your serious about your music I recommend you do the same.

  • What brand of sax is this?

  • @blacktenor13 It looks like a cannonball

  • COOL!

  • not bad.... not bad at all. Dont stop playing, could get you somewhere big real soon

  • nice keep swingin

  • Dude How Long have You Been Playing Tenor?

  • What mouthpiece is used in this video?

  • awesome sax.

  • loved this nice doo wop work as well. Well done.

  • Que Saxo es .. Modelo y año?

  • <3

  • You're fu**ing great!

btw: look at my saxo blues Attempt :)

  • It's amusing to read the comments from the "University" musicians.

Thank goodness you don't suffer from the paralysis of analysis; you've just got good ears, and you know how to let go and just blow that horn. And you know that there are lots of chord sequences for the blues...there's no "correct" sequence.

  • I wish I could make a sax sing like this.

  • Nice Cannonball Raven, I play a Raven alto. Man that fat neck OPENS you up for real. It's hard to explain until you play it.

  • @steeleryan4 me too!

  • smooth man, never stop believing

  • smooth man

  • tenor sax ftw

  • I honestly love it. I am into blues and jazz tenor saxohpne but the key of concert G is one key I have trouble with. I just can't figure out the notes to play in the a minor scale...

  • @wak774 A,B,C,(C#),D,E,(Eb),F,(F#),G,(G#),A..... good notes to use over a concert G blues if you're playing tenor. The normal minor scale is A,B,C,D,E,F,G,A. The blues scale is A,C,D,Eb,E,G,A. The bebop scale is A,B,C#,D,E,F#,G,G#,A.

A good lick would be an A-7 triad (A,C,E,G) followed by chromatic steps up to the maj6 (F#). So it would go like this: A,C,E,G,E,F,F#....then you can take it wherever you want to go by using the scales that I typed out.

  • @pebblefrog196 For Concert G-Blues, the proper thing to play would be A, C, D, Eb, E, G, A.

  • You obviously can't read, what he said. *facepalm*

  • @AlexWhipple Yep, that's the easiest and most effective scale to use.

  • please comment on my videos or email me or something, I would love to know your setup as well.

  • @ChickenFlavoredTroll

I currently have a cannonball sax. I use a otto link 7 metal moutpiece and a hard la vaz reed. Its such a great choice. Nothing is louder and is more aggressive. Or if your not looking for a metal mouthpiece. An upper jody jazz mouthpiece and same reed works really well.

  • boom! amazing man! really really good

  • I need to know your mouthpiece setup because I'm buying a Cannonball in a couple of weeks and I'd like to try your setup to see if it fits me. Keep it up!

  • aí.quem souber o nome desse fenômeno por favor poste na internet, esse cara é demais ,quero outros videos dele valeu!

  • @ChickenFlavoredTroll

Trying to figure out that high G fingering you use...

  • @KCBluesJams Its a Cannonball Raven, it says it in his profile. "Stuff I use on these videos:

    Cannonball Raven"

  • @KCBluesJams that kind of comment saying that "he's not past average" is pretty bold statement considering your videos are clearly not better than his.

  • I like how his shirt matches his sax. Whether he knew it or not, this is an important element in creating that sort of sound.

  • Dude, your freakin sick! Btw is this all improv? if not what song are you playing in the beginning?

  • God DAMMN it!! that is one great tone man, i hope to shred like you one day.

  • ur sax looks AWESOME mine is like a matte gold color but urs is better

  • This is so awesome I had cum coming out of my ears!

  • When I first saw this post and clicked on it I was expecting some high school flunky goofing off and cacking in his bedroom like so many other posts on here. What I heard was “awesomeness” …I am a player and I was impressed by so many things to include intonation, tone, and command of the instrument. I was most impressed by your ability to restrain yourself from just double-timing it from the get go...like I do. You look like a young player and yet you sound like a seasoned veteran. you rock!

  • @soothingjazz My only criticism is that I would like to hear more distinct articulations on your double-timing.

  • by the way this sounds like a trackfrom the Feelin Good Aebersold Vol 120 McDuff's Groove

  • I'm in Love! with his tone lol

  • that my friend is and awesome looking saxophone you got you're self there
