  • I followed your video step by step and I managed to tune my Djembe to perfection! Thank heaps :)

  • I watched 2 times the video and I am able to tune it now,,, thank you !!!

  • How do I keep tuning this once I have made diamonds all the way around the drum?

  • I have a 9 inch drum. Should i not pull the rope so hard when tuning a smaller head? I think it takes away abit of the bass. These smaller drums need all they can get.

  • I am in market 4 already bouht/ used on craigslist and I am utilizing your videos to steer me in the forward direction !

your instruction is indeed very thorough.. appreciated for you time & energy

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for the instruction. Very helpful!!

  • I have one of your drums. How do you keep the head from being stretched unevenly? Can i skip some of the verticals? With congas i tune evenly and loosen the head after playing to keep the head even, and relieve tension on the shell and skin. Is this necessary on a djembe?

  • @waveriderz Skipping verticals is not a good idea as it eats up your extra tuning rope quickly and can easily become confusing. With a traditional rope tuning system it's not as important to concern yourself with tuning the head evenly. Obviously on a mechanical tuning system it's much simpler to bring the head down evenly however part of the charm with a rope tuning system is the traditional look and feel. In short it's not necessary.

  • How do I determine where to start knotting?

A little more introduction into basic pre-tuning knowledge would be great, thanks.

  • Such an easy explanation and I've just tuned my drum up.. it's sounding better and better, thanks!

  • best one yet on you tube!! very good explanation and very easy to see... thank you!!

  • What happens when you are out of rope?

  • Thanks my drum sounds sooo much better, and I have a nice blister on my ring finger to prove it was 'hard work'

  • @gerrybrim wrap the rope around a bit of broom stick or something similar ,and then pull on the stick with both hands-no blisters.

  • hey, i watched about 100 youtube vids and still didn't get it, go to this one and finally worked out how to do the knot thing that makes the 2 ropes cross over eachother, so i did a whole heap of them around the drum but i still want it tighter and i don't know how to do one over verticles that have already had the knot done on them....anyone please help? would be much appreciated.

  • Thank you very much!

  • very informative....

  • This helps a great deal: thank you. I spent Dragonfest with a drum pitched too low, but nobody complained---- it's all good.

  • Thank You! You made this soooo easy!

  • Thanks man. Very very useful. May i ask, can i skip ropes so that i tune it at the 'four corners'?

  • That was easy! Thanks, you guys are the reference!

  • well just for uploading this video i am gonna check out ur drums.. thank u much

  • Thanks X8 - bought mine from you last Aug and was too scared to do this at first. Your vids make djembe tuning easy :)

  • Yea man thanks, I went to a drum shop n asked them if they could teach me but they said they didn't know how and that it takes a couple hours... ha that was easy Thanks again man

  • Thank you so much! This is so helpful! I am getting ready to place an order with you, too! The first of many, I'm sure!

  • Thanks dude! it sounds great.
