By far the best version of this song I love mustaine and megadeth a lot as they're one of my favorite bands but their version of mechanix sounds a little rushed to me and the lyrics aren't as cool
@strikeout1991 I'd probably agree with that I mean I generally find daves solos more interesting than kirks but yeah I never liked the lyrics to mechanix when metallica did it in the mustaine days or when megadeth did it on their first record
@2largescotches Dave is pretty bad ass. Kirk is good too. I won't say one is better than the other because they both have their specialty. Mastaine makes kick ass solos that are loaded with energy, and Kirk can make some melodic solos that convey emotion. Think Fade to Black.

Some consider him to be the creative talent in Metallica after Mustaine left, yet he wasn't much of a leader. It's just that if two people consider themselves to the "the band leader" there will be friction. It is undeniable that Mustaine is the man in charge of Megadeth, but gives the other members a chance to shine.
@MrFlopz Exactly, Kirk came up with the main riff for enter sandman and now it is the most recognized Metallica song in the word. IMO, it is decent. But that's what I mean, if Dave wasn't such a control freak and hire excellent players instead of decent ones Megadeth would, IMO be up on Metallica's level. FYI no one was coined "the leader" of Metallica until Cliff's death. After Cliff died James and Lars saw that someone needed to step up so they both did being that they were the only "two" left
@mseals29 I think they're a little better than "decent". Lars is a decent drummer (for heavy metal standards), but Megadeth's drums tend to be much more fast paced and complex. As far as bass goes, Ellefson does a great job. Maybe he's not Cliff Burton, but who is? Megadeth does a better job distinguishing the bassline from the rhythm guitar. Plus Dave and Chris do amazing dual solos. Don't assume that popularity is proportional to musicianship. Megadeth is less conventional than Metallica.

They don't have as much, or even close to as much, commercial success as Metallica because they don't have a commercial sound. Not because Dave hires "decent" players. It's as simple as that. Commercial success is not a measure of musicianship.

Musicianship to me is being able to have a wide range on sounds which Metallica does. That is what I was referring to when I said "Metallica's" level.

There are some songs that are exceptions, just like every other band/artist that have sold a decent amount of albums. And that is definitely not what musicianship is. What you're talking about is versatility and that is only a part of musicianship.

@2largescotches Dave is pretty bad ass. Kirk is good too. I won't say one is better than the other because they both have their specialty. Mastaine makes kick ass solos that are loaded with energy, and Kirk can make some melodic solos that convey emotion. Think Fade to Black.

@MrFlopz You Dave nutt riders act like he wrote the whole song. Dave wrote the main riff, which is fucking simple, big deal. He also wrote the solo which was completely redone. If you ever listen to Machanix you would know that dumb fuck. You need to get over the FACT that Megadeth will never be up to Metallicas level, simply because any one with talent will not work with him, he is too controlling. So he has to get shitty drummers, shitty bass players and shitty guitarist.

@mseals29 That's not what I meant. You can make a huge contribution without being the one calling the shots. Look at Cliff Burton. Some consider him to be the creative talent in Metallica after Mustaine left, yet he wasn't much of a leader. It's just that if two people consider themselves to the "the band leader" there will be friction. It is undeniable that Mustaine is the man in charge of Megadeth, but gives the other members a chance to shine.

@MrFlopz Exactly, Kirk came up with the main riff for enter sandman and now it is the most recognized Metallica song in the word. IMO, it is decent. But that's what I mean, if Dave wasn't such a control freak and hire excellent players instead of decent ones Megadeth would, IMO be up on Metallica's level. FYI no one was coined "the leader" of Metallica until Cliff's death. After Cliff died James and Lars saw that someone needed to step up so they both did being that they were the only "two" left

@mseals29 I think they're a little better than "decent". Lars is a decent drummer (for heavy metal standards), but Megadeth's drums tend to be much more fast paced and complex. As far as bass goes, Ellefson does a great job. Maybe he's not Cliff Burton, but who is? Megadeth does a better job distinguishing the bassline from the rhythm guitar. Plus Dave and Chris do amazing dual solos. Don't assume that popularity is proportional to musicianship. Megadeth is less conventional than Metallica.

They don't have as much, or even close to as much, commercial success as Metallica because they don't have a commercial sound. Not because Dave hires "decent" players. It's as simple as that. Commercial success is not a measure of musicianship.

There are some songs that are exceptions, just like every other band/artist that have sold a decent amount of albums. And that is definitely not what musicianship is. What you're talking about is versatility and that is only a part of musicianship.

I just heard that Mustaine wrote all three of them (or at least played a major role in composing them), which I thought was interesting... Besides, I wrote that comment four months ago, when I didn't even listen to much Megadeth. I've only gotten into Megadeth recently but I've liked Metallica for years.
