  • Using quantum physics to plan for an outcome means nothing other then what you intend to happen will happen and that an intentional black hole will decay very quickly. So if they feel the need to discuss what could go wrong then they already are wrong. Science is about impossibilities and possibilities and it takes a closed mind to understand.

  • he,i watched this movie 5 times in webmovietube..thank u

  • what a movie..pls watch this in webmovietube

  • why not call it the atheist particle

  • At 03:20 we hear yet again the false statement that the LHC produces collisions at energies which haven't existed since the big bang. This is the root of all the silly hysteria lay people have regarding the LHC. Collisions of these and much higher energies have been occurring between cosmic rays and the Earths atmosphere for billions of years, to no ill effect. What LHC does that it special is produce its collisions inside sensitive detectors allowing them to be studied in detail.

  • @sbergman27 thats actually wrong since the particles are accelerated at up to 99.99998 percent of the speed of light, they actually gain more mass because the energy can no longer be added via speed. The mass of particles are directly proportional to their energy (E=mc^2) this is their mass is measured in eV (electron volts) if the mass increases then so does the energy. cosmic ray collisions have energies in the MeV ( M=10^6) range while the LHC has collisions in the TeV (T=10^12) range

  • @sbergman27 The 100MeV in my previous post should, of course, read 100 GeV.

  • have u ever heard a rapper take his music as far as the universe listen to my song called off earth i guarantee its like nothin u ever heard before just go to my page

  • did this ever get turned on?

  • it said that stars would shine differently but if the higgs field didnt exist wouldnt all matter be travelling at the speed of light?

  • "Without the Higgs, all fundamental particles would be massless, and the universe would be very different"

What a load of Stockholm syndrome infertile sHitlerite! Yet another Freemason incest peadophile scientist that can't Tollerate the fact that only Nature, i.e; God of this existence can create neutrinos for Ka-cases, not man..... how fucking jealous is science, which prove's how immature men really are!

  • HEY ..... I ALREADY FOUND THE GOD PARTICLE :-)

    Google

John Joseph O'Brien WINS THE GOD PARTICLE RACE says GOD :-)

AND UUMMMM GEE ...... I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW RACING ANYBODY FOR "IT" :-I

UMMMMM HEY GOD ^ WHAT EXACTLY DID I WIN :-)

  • I think They will Start this Machine on 21 December 2012.

  • lol, its only a time machine if... and only if strings or something similar exist.

  • Well credability of the observer is invaluable & could simply be a whole lot of schooling for nothing when someone cant observe something in depth. Like the fact that one of the scientists used Columbus as an example. Magellan won the race, but lets base our knowledge on dissinformation. Next they will claim Edison discovered electricity. Lets not point out the fact that these particles will be observed, so they will not appear as a wave, when infact they are. Dimensions being observed?? LMAO

  • Mini black holes are unstable and high energy and expected to be short lived in propotion to the energy levels

  • So what are they expecting when they turn it on? We all know its not gonna be the end of the world; Im just wondering what they think the possibilities are.

  • mmmn science yum

  • i aint got all day fire this bitch up!

  • As for people claiming it will create a black hole. Thats vary unlikely and if it did it would be equilient to a micro or primordial blackhole such a black hole would ignore allmost all matter and would simply fade away due radiation decay within a a matter of nano seconds, In short if one was created it would be harmless.

  • @Lokivoid on that very day it was well noted that he was tapping or experimenting with earths energy, there was no physical remains to disclose substance was present there for its easy to understand why he died in poverty

  • big waste of intelligence and resources all for what ? the knowledge gained here will do nothing for living existence, maybe at its best it may discover a new weapon of mass destruction, in other words scientists, such as tesla did, must still pay their debts since tesla is dead it is law for a group to be held responsible 1908 june 30 siberia was avoidable and life on earth will not be the same for a long time

  • @winterequinox

"such as tesla did" Tesla's "death ray" was a last ditch effort for funding. His deathray is overexaggerated by conspircay thorist wackjobs like your self. As for you claims of it being responsable for the tunguska event, No its was a comet airburst all evidence points to that fact, Plus Tesla didnt not even start his research or experimentation on his "deathray" until 1920's. And the "god particle" aka Graviton is quite important for technological progression.

  • you guys are crazy you may kill everyone did u ever think of that men wemon children..............just stop the stupid questions and be grateful with what u have

  • so religions can thrive on people? NEVER

  • amen thats right . I mean what the fuck is wrong with you asswipes. . I think you dumb asswipes want to end the world . .We have made it this far and now you idots are gonna blow us up

  • The "creative destruction," of which the the "Big Bang" would qualify as, is evident throughout the universe. This will just decreases that gaps that the "God-of-the-Gaps" keeps slipping through. There will always be the question, "Why." Religion has been a clumbsy attempt at both science and philosophy and asserted w/o evidence their own answers. I am excited that more gaps in our understanding will be filled in by science through science: methodological naturalism/empirical evidence.

  • "there's no way this machine will fail"LOL

"if this particle doesn't exist, we will have to rethink physics"ROTFL

"it eould only be a small black hole, it will decay very quickly"Stop it, my sides are hurting.....

  • Don't like how they aren't confident about the black holes that may be produced... afaik Steven Hawkings hasn't proved they will dissipate, its still just a theory that they will.

  • CERN makes themselves look like Schitzo's trying to recreate a God Particle when they havn't got the Devil of a Conscience of their own!

  • when!there was abigbang atall then it surely was a 0nuclei sphere - like blackholes and whitedwarfs, asphere where no nuclei or electron can stay intact

also thatit exploded would be explainable like 0nuclei sphere to fusing hull of a supernova explodes either

now waht happens subatomically between 0nuclei sphere and the fusing hull and

can0nuclei sphere exist already inlarger suns? orjustin blackholes orsuperdense galaxycenter blackholes

  • its the photon. in different energystages

tehkinky stuff is gettingout howenergy transfers among photons, sotheybecome xray onhighenergy load or infraredonlow

    maybehtesecretisthat

    its

    consisting of 2parts

    or

    jsut the velocity

  • I can't wait to hear what they find out two years from now.

  • LOL .. this tiny blackhole will suck the earth !!!

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES

  • I like the 'which they hope could one day explain why particle have mass'...

I wonder how far that rabbit hole REALLY is?

  • looks like it's infinite

  • People are taking this particle way out of proportion....it's only going to tell why some particles have mass...thats it...nothing else...it is not the "god" particle

  • Well... actually, it's going to explain why all particles have mass. If it explains the origin of our universe, then surely it takes the place of god in terms of creation theory. hence, 'god particle'. however, there's always the question of how the higgs field came to be. Was the Higgs-Boson created by God? i doubt it even exists. Both God and the God Particle.

  • but it has nothing at all to do with the origin of the universe...the higgs boson has nothing at all to do with the big bang itself...

All it does is explain why things have mass

  • Not necessarily. in some senses it is said to be responsible for mass. This is is why the higgs field was brought into the theoretical world: why is there mass? in an electric field there is an electric charge in the form of electrons. so, if there was a field which explained and created mass; there must be a corresponding particle to make this happen. higgs-boson particle.

  • no...the only thing it does is be responsible for mass....

again..it was just a particle created during the big bang...it doesn't explain the big bang itself

  • yes. true. however, being responsible for mass means that it is also responsible for all basic characteristics of our universe, allowing the universe as we know it to exist. I'm going to be persistent and say, 'GOD PARTICLE!' Also the term God particle was derived from the term 'Goddamned particle' - I kid you not- which was from the frustration of trying to observe this particle. which may well support what your opinion. We all have, and are entitled to, our own opinions.

  • well, id say "god particle" really relates to its importance to 'the theory of everything'. relating the very large and the very small is a theory thats evaded physicists for many years. so to find this explanation is the holy grail of particle physics. it doesnt prove god, it doesnt disprove god. it doesnt explain why the big bang occurred. and if ur about to ignore this and complain because i didnt use apostrophes, READ BETWEEN THE LINES and get over urself.

  • u r right. i should get over myself, thank you. however, i wasn't saying it proved or disproved God. just that it leaves us able to not have to rely on the idea that there is a God. I agree with the importance you've given the particle. however, you will find that the term was coined by Lederman. 'god damn particle' and shortened.

  • originally, it was the goddamned particle... i prefered it that way. goddamned particle, why don't you show yourself?

  • Dont Tempt Douchebag

  • Tempt who? to do wot?

  • you know what the problem with this is? If there was nothing before the Big Bang then how can we recreate the conditions?

    O.o

  • they're not recreating conditions before the big bang. they're recreating the conditions a trillionth of a second after the beginning of the universe. watch it again and listen when he says, 'conditions which haven't occured since a trillionth of a second after the big bang.

  • It has already bean turned on and as i look around i come to relize its not a damn doomsday device made by docter doom

  • hay its already bean turned on and your still here you idiot.

  • It is not possible to create strong "magnetic traps" and tiny black holes that will harm the earth. These tiny particles will be contained in a 17 mile long tube and will be harmless to you and I. Tiny black holes are said to exist but only exist for a very very very short amount of time.. So don't worry about it.. Humanity will still be here when the LHC is turned on again.

  • Blackholes? what if that amount of time is enough for the rifts in spacetime to interact and multiply into a supermicro blackhole, or a warlock finds his way to the CERN site, and damns us all? nah, it's safe.

  • great vid

someone smart please help me 35

  • please dont get confused its the opposite of a Nuclear bomb enstead of turning matter into energy it turns energy into matter

  • And close people like you where they belong, mental asylum at least.

  • Your grammar is appalling. Go back to school! that is... assuming you went to school in the first place. whilst you are there i advise studying some actual science. Not bullshit... which you speak.

  • How do CERN scientists NOT know about this "Magnetic Trap" and you do?

  • CERN scientists know fuck all about how to wrap their girdles roundabout the Earth's Ley Line Grid, cause to understand the meaning of life you have to die first, and left hemisphered deliberately ignorant scientists are afraid of comming face to face with their own consciences, it's the worst Terror kown to man, cause they know if they havn't got a pure heart, ie; cardiac intrinsic ganglia, brain cell's that tell the truth about the corrupted mind, they'll never make the Passover vanhalenmk

  • Interesting video about CERN and physics.

  • @vanhalenmk exxactly and im sure out of the 6000 of the "top scientific minds in the world" NOONE ever said lets make time to figure out what might go wrong"....nope im sure they didnt at all.... >.< being scientists and all im sure they never look at all logical sides of things nope never theyr so blinded by science.....cause its like.....so epically blinding....literally......its FKING BRIGHT bwahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • that thing is huge just to shoot little 2 protons

  • I wonder if the thousands of scientists were this happy when they invented the nuclear bomb? Oh yes, an audi and a big paycheck...and we get stuck with an anti-matter explosion or god knows what.

  • The Higgs is a myth. It was invented to fix the standard model that does not work.

There is no fundamental anything to the universe. That is a myth.

There is no such thing as a massless particle.

    This is a myth.

In fact, the notion of "particle" is quite vague and is a misrepresentation of energy.

It's likely why we cannot detect the other 90 some percent of what our universe actually is. Quite silly to develop a standard model based on a fraction of what actually exists.

  • this is awsome. there's nothing unnatural about hardware horsepower. you think space probes are a waste of money? how about.. you get the idea. better research facilities=better data. the world needs more grand ambitions like this.

  • pink floyd in the beggining lol

  • well. its nice to know that some people are gifted with arrogance. if one looks at any scientists own words in any article relating to this you WILL find the words "we do not know" the only question is if that is in relation to black holes or proving the higgs boson, or DISproving the god created the world in seven days theory. by the way, are you also yourself ignorant of the fact that they only test fired streams with no particles contained, until decemeber? hmn?

    you're no phsyicist

  • Why are these people taking this risk? We are meant to not know such things... There's always failures, things that go wrong... This is something VERY risky I don't think this is a good idea. I think we should just live in the hapiness all other animals have... This is something very unatural to do. If the world ends... Humans should have never came on this planet...

  • "This is something very unatural to do." then Why can we do It?

  • 'We are meant to not know such things'? Why? Such information can provide new, life-saving technologies. 'There's always failures'? Then why haven't past supercolliders been failures? On the whole, they've been amazing successes. 'VERY risky'? Then why does no leading physicist in the world think there is even the slightest real risk? Your misanthropy does not excuse your scientific illiteracy and ignorance. Micro-black holes cannot absorb matter.

  • I wonder how long it will take before black holes are used as weapons.

  • أنا لا أوافقك الرأي في التسمية سمها higgs

  • 7 times of Femilab and they expect to find newer particles?

Does anyone know 7 times is microscopic number in this universe?

  • Look for : The Large Hadron Collider cat Don Piano Long Jonhson test

Look for : The Large Hadron Collider cat Don Piano Long Jonhson test

Look for : The Large Hadron Collider cat Don Piano Long Jonhson test

  • all this money could have been spent on hookers beer & nice cars.... what a waste.

  • The scientists all have nice cars, hookers and drink fine scotch. You may tour the facilities there, and have a free beer.

  • That's a stereotype man. They don't drink scotch.

  • Ok, i live in switzerland and they are firing it up tomorrow, 9/10/08

it is qutie a big deal, and there is a 5% chance there will be a black hole and we will die. Oh joy

  • koko - the sun slams protons & other particles together at energies we cannot even perceive

Yet our sun is not generating black holes now is it?

  • kokoloco11, The theory which would allow a mini black hole to exist also says they would only exist for an incredibly small amount of time, and would not grow. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about please don't ever comment on things you don't even begin to understand.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth. This saves me alot of time.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Exactly - dtman83.

$6B to find Nothing but means EVERYthing!

  • I know what

All those who believe in their God

im not talking about differences but the thing is that That god will show these mutherfuckers that how he feels when someoone oppose him

  • In my opinion there is a much higher chance that religion will cause the destruction of the world than the Hadron Collider will.

  • we need to do this but if the higgs proves not to exist more than a few people are going to be pissed bout spending thair lives on it. very interesting tho turning energy into mass

  • If higgs proves not to exist, it will push science quickly in another direction which will still benefit mankind.

  • Well, you don't even mind how semiconductor physics (a consecuence of quantum mechanics) have made your Intel Core 2 Duo, PIII or any other micropocessor possible.

  • I hope the Higgs boson has "Made in China" labels on it.

Quantum physics is interesting....but pointless. It's like trying to see yourself in the mirror with your eyes closed.

  • if it were not for science, you'd still think the earth was flat and the sun revolved around the earth. like it says in the video, the internet that you are using right now was developed at CERN. people like you need to give science more respect.

  • Stupid, if it wasn't for the concave lense in your eyeball's you'ed be living on a flat world and would fall of it without the Ley Line Grid and interconnective magnetic polaritys to keep this planet in an atmospheric bubble mreisma. What goeth roundabout, cometh - the chord of an angle equals twice the sine of half of the angle, i.e.: chord(A) = 2 sin(A/2).

Apparently science dosn't know how to play that string!

  • It is also people like you who are slowing humanity's progress towards a more intelligent community and better quality of life.

  • echos ftw

  • well yeah i pretty much agree with suckingboobiesmaniac

  • Personally I think that the god particle is just a theroy. I mean, there are things that just arent meant to be discovered because maybe it being discovered would mean the end to man and all of everything. But all of your ideas make sense.

  • I like your ideas Chuichupachichi. When was the first energy created? All mass has energy first. The Higgs isn't the smallest we can go. To go smaller we have to think differently. Something had to happen before the big bang to set up the big bang, even if it was just inconcievable amounts of energy. That energy had to come from somewhere else. Not this universe or plane of existence.

  • Quite strange. Causing one to think of strange things. Things like, if the Higgs bestows mass on all other particles, it means that particles which are bestowed by the Higgs have to first exist to be bestowed. For how can nothing be bestowed? Therefore, something existing prior to being bestowed is already mass. Is it not? Or are all particles simply energy until bestowed by the Higgs? But how is energy particles before being bestowed?

Maybe the Higgs has never been seen because its bestowed

  • away all of its mass to the other particles? Bestowed its way into non existence? Maybe, when it comes to mass, it is better to be bestowed than to bestow? For if one bestows oneself into non existence, then one can neither give nor recieve. Of course, laws like these would only apply to those and all, comprised of particles. God, not comprised of particles, but perhaps entirely particleless. Can bestow and give an entire universe, complete with all energy and mass, and still exist, eternaly!

  • Since I have yet to visit Switzerland, it would be a shame if they blew it off the globe when they wind that thing up and let it go.

Then again, they might just blow a black hole into the side of the "Matter"-horn.

Then the Swiss can have a log ride passing through the black hole? Switzerland, home to the "Happiest Black Hole In The Universe"?

But thats too far fetched. Personaly, I think that when they fire up the accelerator it will overheat, producing a massive cup of hot Swiss Miss

  • I forgot the date of the experiment, anyone?

  • it will start september 10, 2008.

  • Where did you hear this - that they are firing it up on 9/10/08?

And are they just testing the beams or smashing the beams on 9/10/08???

  • You know what would be interesting, if the reason they can't find it is because the can only have 1 thing of reality at a time. So if they cause another "big bang" then this reality that is set might change? The guy that states about the black holes decaying fast "is scare" he is "hoping" for it to decay fast just theories of what they hope. It will work but with a weird out come. Thats why they're guessing even thou they state "it will work" Make senses?

  • bestow mass on all particles they dont no anything yet . i know what give mass to particles and all my thoerys have come true except two they havent eventhought off yet most have been stolen when i sent in to scien ce magazines. so it seems the same stuff in the past still goes on now.

  • considering you cant even spell and arent there with that experiment. I'm having issues believing anything you say.

  • im sick with namonia right now and havng trouble typing butt as usually an idiot like you never thinks of these things always the negative and jealous ass comments youll never mount to any thing in life with that attitude ass head.

  • Sooo...have they come up with anything new yet??

Ps: Gods particle = Higgs particle right?

  • so they say,

particles appear mass-less. So how can something that has 0 mass have any mass at all? Thats where the Higgs Boson comes into play.

The Higgs field/particle is supposed to be the thing that regular old particles from the standard model interact with, giving things mass.

problem is, no one has seen the Higgs particle, and if they dont find it, then that could mean drastic things for our understanding of the universe and how it works.

  • try checking their website for updates.

  • kelvin and celsius? keep on disrespectin' the new world, just keep on!!!

  • excuse me, but how can protons be heavier than neutrons if neutrons split into a proton, and electron and a lepton?

Am I the only one that realises this or am i not mathematically advanced to understand something here?

Or is the guy there just wrong. Btw, If you say p are heavier than n, WHY!? The neutron realeases them and other things!

  • Neutrons are heavier than Protons.

  • Neutrons are heavier than Protons.

  • Theres an INCREDIBLY small difference in the mass of a proton and a neutron

    Mass of Proton =1.6726 x 10^-27KG

    Mass of Neutron =1.6749 x 10^-27KG

As you can see, there is a remarkably small difference in mass. Its mass difference is shown through beta decay into a proton. That is, a neutron decaying, whereby

    N --> P + e- + (antineutrino)

  • Difference in mass is held by the released e- and its antineutrino

The mass of an electron is 9.1094 x 10^-31 kg.

Thats FOUR orders of magnitude smaller!

The mass of an antineutrino is so small it has never been directly observed, though recent experiments have shown it to have a mass one TEN MILLIONTH of an electron

  • Since the mass of an electron is considered incredibly smaller then a proton or neutron, science .. in general considers the mass of a proton to be the same as the mass of a neutron, but TECHNICALLY a neutrons mass is infintesimally larger then a proton, so small its almost completely disregarded.

PS: an electron IS a lepton (lol), the two classes of particles are Quarks and Leptons, electrons belong to the lepton class

  • Everything you said is the opposite of what it actually is lol

    -N is heavier then P

(not the other way around like you said)

    -An e- IS a lepton

-A proton is LIGHTER then a N (this is to answer your 'WHY!?') because a P is born out of the decay of a N

    N -> P + e- + antineutrino

The lost mass is from the e- and antineutrino

-N doesnt 'release them [P] and other things', its the other way around

-Proton decay is THEORETICAL but has never been seen: P -> positron + pion | pion -> 2 gamma photons

  • world's best scientists... i bet they're cafeteria serves them great food.

  • Sounds like this was narrated by a 12 year old...

  • There's already a decent sized on in Chicago. This one may be a lot bigger but the results, I believe, will be the same. Just more quarks and subatomic particles.

  • this is big !! what is to come of this? to say that nothing will happen is absurd. this is greater than any thing we have seen in our time. will this answer the questions which some of us have been asking ourselves for a long time and will this knowledge be used ultimately for good or evil

  • I can't wait for the 27th of NOV IT'S ME B;DAY!!

  • i am ready to be sucked by a black hole on that day! =)

  • Cant wait until the 26th of Nov!

  • ZOMG they have a proton cannon shooting stuff at the speed of light they will attack us oh noes!

Seriously though, it's just a particle accelerator. It's the same as smashing two toy cars together to see what breaks and see what parts fall out of them. What are you worried about?

  • science also cured so many other diseases. and the black holes that this creates are not the black holes you think of. they are microscopic and will disappear almost instantly. the LHC is one of the most important science experiments ever created, and no matter what the results are, they will change our understanding of the universe as we know it

  • Actually...the theory that you talk of, that of black holes evaporating, is, surprisingly, still theorectical!!! Hawkins radiation has not been proven yet, and even Hawkins himself has stated before that he could very well be wrong, as the theory itself goes completely against the standard model; no doubt the LHC will change our fate; if hawkins is incorrect, then the black holes that can be created by the LHC will most likely comsume all normal matter on earth!!!

  • Hawking radiation is only as theoretical as the idea that black holes can be created by smashing protons. (In fact, it is less theoretical.) And guess what? It's the _same_ set of theories which suggests both. So, if you want to deny the physics underlying Hawking radiation, you have to in the same breath deny all the physics which suggests even the possibility of creating black holes, since the two are consequences of the same equations. Either micro-black holes are harmless or impossible.

  • cancer is a result of science or the lack of science? are you saying cancer didn't happen thousands of years ago?

  • Cancer was RARE until 1900.

It appears to be a FUNGUS. Nothing more. It exists in acid environments.

Treatable with injecting baking soda directly to the site

(alkaline). An Oncologist is treating people who heal in days. DAYS.

    Look it up.

  • thats a rash oversimplification.

theyre creating conditions that existed just after the "big bang" AND creating black holes, and youre not in the least bit

worried? or concerned? wow. ignorance really IS bliss.

  • They are not creating black holes. You are scientifically ignorant. There is next to no chance of even a black hole the size of two protons being created, and if such a black hole were created, it would necessarily evaporate in less than a millionth of a second and would only have the _mass_ of two protons, making it incapable of 'sucking up' anything at all. Even a bacterium would have nothing to fear from such a black hole.
