  • Your mounting is improper. You should buy a riser mount that will get the Tilerpilot arm level. Also I believe the arm should be at in a certain range/length, and there are extension pieces. I think if you had is set up properly it would calm down...no guarantees....but I don't think mine works so hard....you can look at my video...it's on in the background...

  • @windhorze

Thank's for your advice - but the mounting definitively not improper. The device is level to the horizont. So that is not the cause for the unnecessay business of the device. As I just saw in your video your device does the same (close hauled, stable course). The range / length is exactly according to the mounting instructions of the manufacturer.

  • That says it all.

  • My ST1000 works pretty well and is totally quiet, my mates ST2000 also works well but makes the irritating noise shown in your video. Both struggle with the wind from behind and quartering seas. But I'm happy with it. Never used a windvane but I plan to experiment with a sheet to tiller system next year.

  • i agree. my tp32 does the same thing. i'm sending it back to the factory next week.

  • Want to see a real autopilot setup? Search 'sheet-to-tiller steering'.

  • What Sucks???? The tillerpilot is doing what it's supposed to do!!!!

  • I would be annoyed with the sound but having said that, it was holding a perfect course!
