  • That would be alaia... not alaya... and the fellow says it correctly in the video.

  • Thanks for the correction/suggestion but I would like to set the record straight...IT IS AN "ALAYA" (freeze frame at around :30 secs. and you will see it clearly on the board. When we shot this video the "ALAIA" boards (which this is) were not yet readily available, these were literally prototypes from Wegener in OZ. This video was done pre hype before these finless planks had caught on. Respecting the name stamped/carved/burned on the board we called it such... ALAYA.

    Looks like one of Tom Wegener's designs. Thanks for the tip about hooking your foot on the back to keep it under you when paddling out. I'm trying to make one in my garage.
