You know, Im sitting here reading comments, seeing that so many people say this song brings a tear to their eyes. While that does so for me, the fact that people love this song, and owes so much to them is what makes ME want to cry of happy tears. This song does moer than speak to one person, it speaks to EVERYONE. It helps us all see the importance of life, just as the movie teaches, and much MUCH more. Good job to the creators and actors, and more, of Rent <3
I remember the shock I felt when I figured out Angel was a man... And then the overwhelming happiness that followed lol...
This movie cured my Twin brothers homophobia. I was watching it, he saw the opening song sat down and by Angel's Funeral we were both crying...
I am happy to say he is now very Pro-gay and actually saved a man who was being beaten up because he was a homosexual. I am very proud of my brother. and I love this movie.
this song has helped me through so much and its so short but so powerful music can truly help you through life's biggest pain its one of those amazing songs that doesn't mention a thing about love and just living life
i just found out my best friend is hiv positive and im trying to find the perfect song from this movie to show him.. ive always loved this movie and i hope it will help.
"Because reason says I should have died, three years ago."
I don't know what it is, but this line just caught me. It always stands out to me when i think of this movie, even tho it isn't a big song in the musical. It highlights some of the major themes of the story; Hope. Belief. Life.
Such a beautiful scene. One of my favorite musicals of all time.
greatest scene in the movie and play nothing tops this its honest feelings and its honestly the greatest movie ever i loved this movie the day i saw it and will love it for the rest of my life
whenever i listen to this song i just wna cry, and ima big dude but it just gets to me! idk, lik this song and movie just makes me feel as though i have so much to live for when i feel like giving up, i love it!!!:D
I was always into musicals so I thought I should check out Rent. So a year ago I saw this video and well it was like a punch in the gut. I was on the floor and new the only way to get up was to watch this movie and see the play.
Listening to this part of the play brings tears to my eyes, and it not just because of the virus it talks about all aspects of life I am only 22 and had a stroke at 21 doc said I shouldnt have survived and in that instant time flashes before you and you think wow all the things I had plan to do but put off to do tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! (No day but today)
This movie is amazing!!!!!! the broadway show is about 10 times better such a great story. Thank you Jonathon Larson for creating this masterpiece R.I.P
words can't even describe the impact that this movie has had on me, my family, and my friends. though life is so precious we constantly take it for granted until it's too late.
R.I.P. and Thank You Jonathon Larson- you are forever loved and missed.
This musical/movie is quite possibly one of the most powerful musical/movie ever made. and i think this scene plays a huge part in that.
"Because reason said i should have died three years ago" <-- only when confronted with death does life become valuable...every day you live is a blessing, because in truth: we could all die tomorrow.
live for today, and live like you'll never live again. i think that way, when death does come, we aren't thinking "Why didn't i?"
Probably one of the most powerful lines I've ever heard in a song, "But I try to open up to what I don't know, because *reason* says I should have *died*three years ago".
My friends are in a production of this soon, so i watched the movie. I didn't expect to like it very much, and BOY WAS I WRONG. This movie is amazing, gorgeous, heartfelt. I painted the lines "Forget regret, or life is yours to miss" on my wall, because they're words to live by :) Every single time I listen to this song, I get goosebumps. Such a small song, but so AMAZING.
Look I find some of what you teach suspect because I'm use to relying on intellect. But I try to open up to what I dont know because reason said I should of died three years agooooooo-ooooh. There's only us , there's only this. Forget regret
I love the New Yorker's (I think it's Gordon... not 100% sure on that) voice. Just the way he sings it. One of the most touching scenes in this movie, I think. This musical just may be my favorite.
'The scene and song "Life Support" was also based on Friends in Deed, as well as on Gordon, Pam, and Ali. Originally, the members of Life Support had a solid block of the "forget regret" refrain, and they talked about remembering love. When Jonathan's HIV positive friends heard this scene, they told him that having AIDS was not so easy to accept: it made you angry and resentful too, and the song did not match that. '
'The people present at the Life Support meeting in the show, such as Gordon, Ali, and Pam carry the names of Larson's friends who died of AIDS. In the Broadway show, the names of the characters in that particular scene (they introduce themselves) are changed nightly to honor the friends of the cast members who are living with or have died from AIDS.'
When I first watched this movie I abousluty hated it (and now I'm abousluty love it)
but the line "because reasons says I should have died 3 years ago" was like the first thing that got me. And when I watched the 2008 broadway performance and saw that Roger had sang the line along with him. All I can say is WOW.
I always cry when I see this video because Pam, the strawberry blond girl reminds me of the crazy babysitter from the Incredibles, who was always my favorite character
@LorelaiCullen I am pretty sure on the stage version, it's Roger that joins in (who is shown sort of as an aside, presumably at his apartment) so maybe they're going along with that.
"Look i find some of what you teach suspect. Because i'm used to relying on intellect, but I try to open up to what I don't know. Because Reason says i should've died, three years ago..."
@courtyd Yeah Marty was in love with Rory, but she never gave him the time of day. She went for that fucking trust fund rich asshole logan. Rory was better off with Jess, he kept her focused, driven, and her feet on the ground.
