i think these people need to learn a little lovely thing called "power tubes". if i'm right these guys didn't swap out the 6l6 tubes, so if they 1.would have turned up the master volume all the way up to take it out of the circuit 2.turn up the volume for the channel to get the 6l6s to overdrive(adding more definition, clarity, and that open, breathy tone you get by doing this regardless of tube type) and then 3.adjust the gain for more crunch. people need to learn how to use tube amps.

Mesa sounds nice, but that Laney cab is killing the Mesa's tone. Either you could get a better cab, or try upgrading the speakers to something like Vintage 30's. And people, please take into consideration that crappy mic+crappy mic placement= a crappy representation of the sound source that the mic is trying to capture. Bad acoustics in the area he's playing could also be a part of the problem. I've been an audio engineer for 7 years now, so I know what I'm talking about.
