  • In 50 years, when we discover time travel, I'm going back to 1959 and fixing Buddy's tour bus' heater. Sure the future would likely be changed drastically - however, a future with a living Buddy sounds damn good to me. Cheers.

  • I can't get his music out of my head!!

  • This vid is a favorite on Marshall Islands

  • Tomorrow Is Going To Be 53 Years That Ritchie Valens (Richard Steven Valenzuela) Buddy Holly (Marshall Crenshaw) and "The Big Bopper" (Stephen Lee) Died. R.I.P

  • i hear how buddy influenced paul and this is the first song ive ever heard from holly.... wont be the last i promise you that

  • Thanks for sharing

  • El cover de The Beatles es genial.

  • Your video is a favorite on Portugal

  • song is from '57 not '56

  • March '58: he'd just finished 'Oh Boy', and I yelled 'Words of Love'! He glanced around the theatre, and said 'We don't have that one down yet', or something similar. Best concert ever.

  • I DON'T KNOW IF BUDDY HOLLY WAS AS GREAT AS AN INFLUENCE ON PAUL, BUT FOR JOHN, IT WAS.

WHEN THE BEATLES FIRST CAME TO THE 'ED SULLIVAN SHOW', JOHN ASKED. "IS THIS THE SAME STAGE BUDDY HOLLY PLAYED ON?"

THAT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW JOHN WAS INFLUENCED

JUST LISTEN TO 'ANNA (GO WITH HIM)"

    THE SINGING IS TOTALLY BUDDY.

SORRY IF I TYPED THIS FUCK UP, CAUSE IM KINDA BUZZED UP

  • @niggaT42000

Christ almost everyhing they did from 62-65 has Buddy in it, Paul was a diehard Hollty fan and did a great cover of this in the 80s in the amazing documentary 'The Real Buddy Holly' should check it out light years better than the terrible and inaccurate Busey movie.

  • What a great song that showcases the multiple talents of a man like Buddy Holly. Makes the hurt even greater for what was lost in that air crash.

  • SO LOVELYY UMMHH

  • John Lennon was a huge fan of Buddy Holly... I can hear a lot of influence for his singing here, and it seems that Simon and Garfunkel were taking notes as well. Man, it's creppy to think this record is as old as my dad, and I do like it anyway.

  • @Jav0889 bro you know music like how you pointed that out about simon and garfunkel

  • THE ORIGINAL GENIUS...BUDDY HOLLY!

  • What's amazing is that the harmonization of 3 singers on the Beatles cover is just to do the work Buddy's does alone!

  • @wpfairbanks uh doggie.... there is definitely at least one other person harmonizing on that part, or he layered two (or more) tracks of his own voice. sorry to point out a flaw doggie just gotta state facts you know? keep the youth informed and shit

  • @wxmachinegun

It's multiple tracking. Buddy pioneered it.

  • In the 18 months leading up to Buddy Holly's death, the group had 27 top 40 hits, Unbelievable!

  • 1957-59 Buddy had new songs on the radio every few weeks! "That'll Be The Day" was #1 in the USA and in the UK! Nobody had done that!

When the Rolling Stones came to America, they covered "Not Fade Away" in their first appearance. Buddy Holly's songwriting was a huge influence on Lennon/McCartney's. Elvis was the consummate showman; Buddy Holly was the consummate ARTIST! The Beatles played Germany, London and Manchester; the Crickets came from LUBBOCK and recorded in Clovis, NM! RIP Buddy!!

  • Paul and John obviously loved Buddy, as big an influence on them/The Beatles as any 50s rocker, maybe the biggest. They may have picked up a bit where he left off - at least on the more melodic stuff, but then they took things and ran into other musical universes - as they had the time to do so. From the common bitter of experience of signing away publishing rights to early Beatles ongs, Paul learned of the huge longterm money in publishing...and bought the rights to Buddy's songs in the 80s

  • @GuiitarBilly And from what I've heard he gets lots of praise from Holly's family over how he's handled the catalog - treating it respectfully and keeping up an awareness of Buddy's music. It was no coincidence that Macca bought THIS guy's publishing.

  • @GuiitarBilly I agree with you 100% the other "big" infuence had to be the Everly Brothers, what harmonies, John and Paul saw them at Albert hall. Of course we know the Skiffle craze added to the fire.

  • beatles made this song popular

  • @sdf227 No they didn't!

  • Does anyone think Glee will cover Buddy Holly? God, I hope not.

  • @6arcsn1sky Nooooo! No gay Buddy!

  • @r0de0 Um, okay.

  • What a great song this still is ... and what a great E.P. it came from, I used to have this E.P. at the time it came out. Magic, pure magic.

  • Can't beat the original!!!

  • this is actually one of my favourites by him

  • BUDDY HOLLY TO ME NO ONE CAN BEAT THE MAN

  • The Master of the STRATOCASTER!

  • It's similar to "Everyday"...

  • i think i like The Beatles version better. and the Paul McCartney version even more XD

  • Buddy is superior to The Beatles, no doubt about that, this man was the real genius.

  • @vogelmandrie >> Implying Lennon wasn't a genius.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Don't get me wrong, i LOVE Buddy! Every time i hear songs like Peggy Sue i feel that I'm alive, but saying that Lennon wasn't a genius is just wrong.

  • I like how you gave this video a bit of a vintage look...nice!!!

  • @xlCoyoteHD maybe you re right, but, however, thats my point of view and, yes, he s the original, but the beatles perfectioned this song

  • maybe the eeriest classic ever recorded- every time i listen to this one it's as if Holly's ghost is whispering to me from a dark corner of the room.

  • such a beautifull song, and in my opinion, Buddy Holly's voice is better than any of the Beatles.

  • if anyone is intersted it is believed that when the beatles covered this they wanted to recreate Buddy's voice perfectly, so instead of John and Paul they used John and George. However I don't think this recording might not of been chosen for the beatles for sale. Just listen and see what you think, i'm still unsure

  • @Bazza598 In the recorded version for Beatles For Sale, it was John and Paul. But when they peformed like in the Cavern it was George and John...ha..confusing somewhat. lol

  • This dude wrote it created it. There are so many artist today that need to die in a plane crash. This guy was 22. What could he have done in 10 more years.

  • @7294smk 50 years? ...

  • @7294smk hes the real king of rock not elvis. buddy left way to early bro smh

  • i really think john lennon and paul mccartney´s voices are better... however, rest in peace buddy holly, ritchie valenz and all musicians who died in that terrible accident

  • i really think john lennon and paul mccartney´s voices are better... however, rest in peace buddy hlly

  • i really think john lennon and paul mccartney´s voices are better

  • i really think john lennon and paul mccartney´s voices are better

  • yes Felicity,Buddy Holly Wrote this,be well

  • Gracias por subirlo. Excelente!!

  • Sad news for all Buddy Holly fans: The dean of our fraternity, Bill Griggs of Lubbock Texas, THE Buddy Holly expert and true rock and roll fan extraordinaire, has passed away.We will miss his friendship and dedication to great music. Rock On Bill!

  • 0 people are Rebecca black fans

  • @GlitchTelevision YAY! 0 people are rebecca Black fan's lets keep it going xD

  • there is a great reason there is no dislikes!

  • Yep, the day the music died!! One of the cornerstones of Rock and Roll!!!

  • @johnrunion tangina mo gago!

  • @johnrunion fuck u old dog shit

  • @starscreamxaz without buddy holly there would have been no beatles.

  • @starscreamxaz you must be a beatle fan. beatle fans profess to be all about love and peace, but disagree with them and out comes the profanity and sarcasm. where is the love and peace in that?

  • Buddy > Elvis

  • i love this. i HATE the mop top lady bugs version. it is weak. it is lame. it is sissy-fied.

  • @johnrunion see a psychiatrist then buddy, because you're the one who needs help if you don't like that version.

  • @beatlebum1000 you have been brain washed. buddy does the best version of this song.

  • @johnrunion yes he does but the beatles one isn't that bad ; )

  • @beatlebum1000 buddy does it great. they make it to sappy!

  • @johnrunion i think you can put that down to buddy (who would have been the undisputed king of music for me if he hadn't have been took away from us early) being johns hero, maybe john was inhabited to sing a song from such a great

  • je préfère les voix langoureuses des beatles....quoi que j'aime bien Buddy Holly également....Merci Buddy pour l'inspiration, sans toi, les Beatles n'aurait pas été les mêmes ! ; )

  • Hi

    How are you?

    Terrific

    Rock on

    ELVISERIC

  • Buddys is so much better. The Beatles are my favorite group by far and George does the best job at playing close to Buddy, but Buddys is so much better on all levels.

  • The thing that makes the beatles one better is you've got john and paul singing together and they harmonize on this song better than a fijian choir (which is really saying something). But the music itself isn't much different at all. All credit goes to buddy as he wrote it though, and his version is good too. It's like comparing Neil Diamond's "I'm a beleiver" with the Monkees version.

  • the beatles did a great version of this....john lennon was a huge fan of buddy holly.

  • one of his many best songs

  • I like how you made this video.

  • Buddy Holly invented this sound. He had no blueprint, he had no rock artist to copy. The Beatles took rock to another level, but they'd just shake their heads sadly at anyone who said their version of "Words of Love" was better than Buddy Holly's. The Beatles weren't trying to best Buddy, they were paying homage to him - crediting him as a source of inspiration.

  • Happy belated birthday,Buddy!Thank you for inspiring The Beatles!

  • Beatles' version blows this one

  • This is the best version

  • I wish that we had artists like Buddy around today.... He was and is an amazing artist .

  • I like it!!!

  • The Beatles always cited Holly as one of their inspirations.

  • omg!!!! i love Buddy!!!! i only wish i around when he was alive!!!

  • this man played the beatles, before the beatles, nice one buddy

  • I always loved the Beatles version and this just proves how good not only they were but how good this young kid(legend) was...

  • Wow! Been thinking of this as a Beatles song for many many years -- can hear the close resemblance, but also the differences. (They really didn't just blindly cover it . . .) This original is a wonderful sound, especially the little rippling percussion effect.

  • Muito boa !!!

  • I think this is the original record. The Beatles' is a version. Anyways both are marvellous. Thanks for posting.

  • @FelicityAnne0509 Plus, you gotta say thanks to the Beatles because they are the ones who got me addicted to Buddy Holly.

  • @FelicityAnne0509 Yes this the original.

  • @FelicityAnne0509 the mams & the papa's did a version too. Buddy's is the best though. RAVE ON! Everyone!

  • @FelicityAnne0509 Beatles were most influenced by Buddy and the Crickets!

  • Great Buddy.... see you later ...

  • WHER'S THE SOUND ???

  • Simply THE BEST!!

  • we stole his 3D glasses

  • What a song, what an artist.

I love the Beatles version of this, but nothing beats the original. Thanks for uploading.

  • he stole our 3D glasses

  • @edkev94 I don't agree, I find the Beatles' strength much more suitable for this song. Anyway, all the credit to Buddy that is who wrote the song.

  • @edkev94 true, the beatles version is good, but where does their supposed innovation come from..? buddy harmonized his own vocals!
