For all the people here its a Tamil movie 'Iruvar' directed by Mani Ratnam,Its the story of MGR,Karunanithi and Jayalalitha in early life..Mohanlal plays the role of MGR
here cos MGR was Malayalee and he is an actor here and gets shot by villian actor MR Radha in real life also..
I see a difference in the parts in which Madhu is seen and those with Ash in it. Madhu's parts are in B/W while Ash's are in color. Is it to show some distinction?
Actually, B/W part shows the movie in which mohanlal was shooting the time he gets married...listen to mohanlal at 0:38 in background he explains the story and dialogues movie he was shooting to ash...B/W represents more of 60's and 70's when the story of this movie stands like a period movie..however as you said just to differentiate those two things he used B/W and color alternatively...
Madhu bala represents the cinematic life of MGR. while Ash represents his real life. This song represents life imitating art and art imitating life. Madhu is not imaginary rather she is mgr movie heroine. Its my own opinion.

You are correct freind. Not just because it's my mother tung I am saying this....defintely there are plenty of classical tunes got enriched with sweetness of this language. Close to 90000 lyrics of legends like Thyagaraja, annamayya have been gifted to us...

it is because, madhu was actually a shooting of a B/W film where mohan lal is a here whereas Ash is the real incidents of Mahan lal's life.
